I am already studying Spanish at school and I would like to teach myself other languages such as; French, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Italian. Does anyone know of any good computer programs that teach these languages? I've heard of Rosetta Stone, is it good?

I would like to learn Japanese, so I looked into Rosetta Stone. I heard that it was the best. However it is a couple hundred dollars for the program!

I have tried some books, but It always helps to have a teacher who can answer questions that the book does not address.

There are some relatively good basic programs called Eurotalk you can buy them from amazon uk. There is also Linguaphone in the UK - I am pretty sure they sell worldwide. You could also try the BBC languages website www.bbc.co.uk/languages

Why don't you take them in college. Community colleges are inexpensive and more reliable. You can also have access to the college resources (labs, tutors, etc) and get college credit if you want to.
