If "God" really gave us free will there wouldn't be a punishment for exercising it.

"Free will" is the excuse churches make for "God"'s blunders. The very first "sin" was an act of "Free will".

The kind of "Free will" we are given is like that of Henry Ford's statement "You can buy my car in any colour you like as long as it's black".

God says "you can do what you like, but it isn't what I tell you, I'll punish you". That isn't free will or even free choice.

And if its to "protect us" from making mistakes in this universe, then why did he create a universe so full of pitfalls and traps?

Even Eden was booby trapped with the Tree of Knowledge and the serpent.

What would have been the point in creating a world with no freewill. But it would be nice not having to worry about hell.

Do me a favour. Don't you realise that back in the mists of time the rich types who were all powerful then ie before law and order, had to do something to control the masses. So they gave them RELIGION. Do not kill each other. Do not steal from each other. etc etc. Does it sound familiar? it is the same with all religions. Believe in a higher force if you want to, it will make you a nicer person, but always remember that there have been more people killed in the name of one god or another than for anything else. And all that virgin stuff. Do me a favour.

Freewill is just an illusion. If God knows everything, then He already knows everything we'll ever do. Therefore we have no choice but to do exactly that. No freewill, yet still God judges.

I can see what you are saying - If you are asking from a Christian point of view. I do not believe in Hell, That thought was created by man to scare their "subjects" into doing what they wanted. God gave us free will so that we could experiance both good and bad. Because, if there is no bad, how can you experiance good? He is simply watching and experiancing through us - there is no right or wrong and there is no judgement. Xx

STOP!

This issue shows one of the biggest hypocrisies of God... Why did he give us freewill if, by exercising it we would be sent to hell? Also why would God create hell for us to suffer if he loves us so? I can't answer this question for you, but I very much suggest you read a book called "Conversations with God" by someone called "Neale Donald Walsh", Good Luck!

I would rather have a choice to serve God.
To have the feeling of hopelessness when I find out I'm going to hell, then the feeling of hope when I find out God created a way for me to be with Him.
I like having free will. So I can say I am, on my own free will, serving and following God. No one is forcing me to :)

The point of free will is that you choose God and the gift of salvation to spend eternity with the creator. It was the the other way but Adam and Eve blew it.
