JEHOVAH: It is an amazing fact, that if Jehovah is the name of God as the Jehovah's Witnesses so boldly claim, then this high-sounding word does not occur even once in the original manuscripts of the twenty-seven books of the New Testament.

"different authors, who had different purposes in writing, and different points of view" is that the "word of God" you Christians so highly rever? Dont get me wrong; there is some wisdom in the book as there is in people too. But I would not follow a book unless it is Absolute, I had full belief in it, no doubt, and it was flawless--after all isn't that what God is? Flawless? Why are all of you beating around the bush with these evident contradictions. Good question. Peace.

different individuals have pronounced contradictions too. There are web pages that communicate about contradictions, and different web pages that attempt to get to the bottom of those variety of contradictions. on the different hand, some say there aren't any contradictions interior the Bible. in my opinion, i have reached the authentic that a thanks to seem on the Bible is a rustic's seek for for God. there's a huge variety of very powerful insights interior the Bible. i don't think of that's totally without blunders and contradictions, even if the strong a concepts outweighs the undesirable! and that i trust Jesus change into authentic and rose back from the lifeless. the most proper portion of do is to maintain studying the Bible, and pray about it as you examine it. The reason the bible is confusing is it has been edited by men, any verse that the rulers of the day did not agree with were taken out. This has happen a number of times through the ages.
Problem is that those verses balanced some of the one you are having trouble with.
But then you will find it with most religions, that is why there are Rabbi's, Priests, Pastors and Mullahs to talk to about it. Just remember they are human too so not everything they will be correct.
Find what you are comfortable in believe and understanding and practice that.

In my case I lean to the Mystic and paganism, but that is me.

If you are trying to read the bible as a cohesive whole, no wonder you are confused. Remember that the books of the bible were written at different times, by different authors, who had different purposes in writing, and different points of view, and were only assembled into what we refer to as the Bible sometime later. Much debate went on as to what to canonize, there being some approximately 90 or more gospels from which to choose. One can only wonder what motives drove those who made the decisions regarding what to include in this important anthology

If you are trying to follow the bible as though it is some kind of blue print, you are headed for confusion and frustration. If you approach the bible rather as a set of spiritually inspired writings from which to gather insight and inspiration, you will have more success in the growth of your spiritual life. There is no "corner on the market" when it comes to truth, not even in the Bible. The Bible is an important work, but it isn't the only place to look for truths.

When God spoke to Moses face to face, God was in a cloud in the tent with Moses. God never revealed His face without a clous, fire or turning His head. But there was one time on mt. Sinai when Moses saw God's full face (God let him) and Moses' face turned to bright (brilliant) that when Moses came down from the mountain to speak to the Israelites, the people could not look at Moses' face, they had to put a veil over Moses' head so they could look directly at him. In the book of Judges, there is a couple that see's God's face and they think they will die. They didn't actually see GOD's face, God came to them in the form of an angel and they saw that angel's face.

In my Cathoic bible, Isaiah 45:7 says "I form the light and the darkness, I make well-being and create woe; I, the Lord, do all these things." In the footnotes for the word 'woe', it says " God permits evil for the sake of a greater good." This means that God allows evil to walk among us and we have the free-will to give into that evil, that temptation but God doesn't CREATE the evil. Satan creates evil. There are times when God allows evil to prevail for a short time so goodness will be in the long run. When we sin, if we are sane and rational, we should learn from our sins (mistakes) and do good next time. Or sometimes a child will die by the hands of a sexual molester (God gave that person freewill and he choose to molest and kill, God allowed this evil to do it's thing, but a lot of goodness can come out of the lost of that child. The molestor is caught and locked up forever, the molestor changes his heart, the family forgives the molestor, by that molestor's lock up it makes other molestors stop diong things, the child's family unites with other families and make goodness come out of it and have crime preventions begin, catch molestors on the internet and lock them up, etc. This statement might make many people angry with me but this is how things work. Out of every bad situation, a good one comes forth. Maybe not right away but eventually someone or a community can benefit from a lose or a suffering. SO--God doesn't create evil, He sometimes allows it do things so then people will turn to (or back to) God and goodness will eventually prevail.

Does this make sense?

No contradictions, no man can see the full Glory of God. Some have seen parts and some have seen His might, but no man has seen ALL of God. If a man sees all of God, his flawed flesh would be destroyed. Please try to understand that words have more then one meaning. I have spent years tearing apart the bible and I'll share a few. In the 4 gosples there are major contradictions with the reserrection of Christ, read matt 28, Mark 16, luke 24, andJohn 20, all give differant version of the empty tomb. I know every contradictions in the Bible. Now as I say this understand that I have no reason to lie to you, I gain nothing by telling you this, we most likely will never meet. God revealed Himself to me,and showed me that I am one of His chosen people in the history to KNOW that there IS a God, not just believe that there is. He also revealed to me that Jesus Christ IS His Son. As God as my witness, every thing I thought I knew about religion, God, and the Bible changed. I spent so many years tearing down peoples faith, so many years DISRESPECTING God. Soon after, the devil came to me trying to get me to do his will, and if God did not reveal Himself I would be doing that RIGHT NOW! I'm no pasture, I'm not going to tell you to believe in Christ and then tell you to come to my church. I don't even go to church. For me now it is not about who wrote the exact truth about who was and wasn't there to find the tomb empty. Its about that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God. I'm not going to debate translations of words or try to CONVINCE you of anything, I'm just going to say ask God if He is real. People have convinced you that God is not real, before you buy that, try asking Him. Before you do that, figure out if you REALLY want to know if He is real. I'm still trying to deal with the guilt I feel about all I have said about Jesus.

it is very interesting that GOD doesn't want you to see his face. but what is even more interesting is GOD need food and drink to survive!

Exodus 29
38 "This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day: two lambs a year old. 39 Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight. 40 With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah [c] of fine flour mixed with a quarter of a hin [d] of oil from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 41 Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and its drink offering as in the morning—a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire.

42 "For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD. There I will meet you and speak to you; 43 there also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by my glory.

44 "So I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar and will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests. 45 Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. 46 They will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.

It is true that the Almighty did not say, "Listen, thousands of years from now when a new language called English comes along, they can pronounce my name as 'Jehovah' and that's fine."

Instead, like with any and every personal name, different languages TRANSLATE personal names to fit their lingual tendencies. George becomes "Hor-hey" in Spanish or "Gay-org" in German and no one gets upset.

It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". If we want a familiar and close relationship, however, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.

The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.

The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".

(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth

(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

Hi Khan,
Good for you, and do stay with your reading of the Word of God. It sounds as if you got pretty far into it but you did not gain any wisdom. That's a shame. Without wisdom there can be no understanding.

Can I ask if you are a Christian? If not, you need to become one for wisdom is a gift from God. So is the understanding that God gives as well.

If you are a Christian, then you need to approach the Word of God humbly and with great respect. Jesus Christ is the Word of God.

When you do sit down to read and learn of the ways of God and the way God wants you to live you must ask for the wisdom in a pure heart. It means that you need to ask God to forgive you and bless you with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

When you go to God's House, you need to respect Him and His ways. You are a guest in the Word of God. You need to have good manners. Hope this helps you in the future.><>
