They become sexual maturity at about 9 months old but not really allowed to have young until they are a year old.

They will sit and hatch the chicks but usually the babies will die because the parents haven't learned what to do yet.

The male sits on the eggs during the day and the female at night.

Usally about 2 to 4 weeks before I'd place a box in with them, then after placing a box in with them you should witness them breeding soon, after breeding it will be around 10 days before the female lays her first egg, then every 2 days after that up to 4 to 6 eggs. Then wait another 4 weeks for the eggs to hatch out and wait another 3 to 4 weeks before hand feeding the babies to keep them tamed up, then ween them at 8 weeks and you have done a wonderful job.

put a nesting box on the side of the cage and nesting materials in the box you'll want access to the inside of the box also..As far as how long it will take before they start breeding i'm not sure i do think that they will have about two cluches of babies per year.. you also need to think about if you want to hand feed the babies or not and also the fact that you will not be able to handle the male and female mates much anymore for they will become unattached to you and attached to each other if you want to hand feed the babies they are worth more money if and when you go to sell them....

Dont listen to any of these dorks because right now my cockateils just had 3 eggs and to me its just beautiful knowing that your pets actually had a baby cockateil. So it usually take about 1 month or 2 or maybe a couple of weeks, but if you actually see them doing it then you dont have to use a nesting box, u can use a bowl with lots of shredded newspaper and hay(any kind) or lots of paper towls. Do it now before they lay it on the ground. Ours layed it on the ground and it was so hard to move the egg into a proper bowl with the nesting stuff. A proper boel can be plastic (the best kind to prevent the eggs from getting cracked) or glass like I have mine in. If you decide to use the glass bowl put extra bedding.Oh yeah the mom needs lots of calcium at this time so provide he with a cuttle bone and lots of seeds, and they can also have an boild eggs yolk, and collar greens, beet greens, mustard greens. Best of luck!

Make sure you have a big cage or aviary and put in a couple of parrot boxes. I used to have heaps of cockatiels and they bred like crazy. They normally breed when about 9months old.
the trick is to offer them choices of nesting sites, this arouses their curiosity and gets them in the mood.

As far as nesting material goes, put in a couple of centimetres of peat(get it at a garden shop) and then cover with sawdust(non treated). Give the peat a little squirt of water to settle it first. The peat will also help with hatching the eggs in dry weather as it stops the shell becoming to dry(make sure the parents can bath so they can bring moisture into the nest)

Just by reading your question tells me that you do not know enough to be breeding your birds at this time. Maybe after a ton more research you will gather enough info and be totally prepared when you start to breed them.

You apparently need to put a nesting box on their cage, and supply nesting materials: I had cockatiels who bred, but I didn't provide a nest, so nothing came of their mating sessions. You can double check on this info, but that is what I read somewhere.

First, make sure they have a nesting box in the cage or aviary. Make sure there is the nesting material in there, and just let them be. Sometimes those do don't mate, so you might think of getting 3 or 4.

Birds, especially cockatiels do not breed commonly in captivity. But cockatiels are usually harder to breed than bigger birds like conures or macaws.
