A quarter wave whip mounted to the center of the roof will outperform any other antenna available. Antennas which have loading coils or otherwise shortened will be less efficient. Similarly, antennas placed on the trunk or bumper will be less efficient than a roof mount. Bottom line, use as long an antenna as possible and mount it as close to the center of the car as you can. If used, loading coils should be high on the antenna, not at the base. Use these pointers as a guideline to assess the antennas available on the market.

ya maybe but a 102 steel whip when moving down the road swings your signal up and down from above the mud and down into the mud so they cant here everything you say, your below the noise level and then above the noise level, i hear them all the time ,and i can only hear part of what they say. B10000 BLACKHAWK FROM H&Y SHIP TO YOUR DOOR FOR ABOUT $62 BUCKS AND CAN TUNE IT TO FLATE THROUGH ALL CHANNELS AND WILL STAY TRUE THROUGH LOWER AND UPPER CHANNELS AND DEAN KEY BIG AMP AND SEE 1.3 SWR I HAVE PUT IT AGAINST 26 ANTENNAS ON 25 MILE TEST TO HOME BASE,AND SKIP TALKING AND DRIVE TRU AND ORDER A BURGER AT MCDONLDS WITH EASE, NOTE THATS MY CHOICE AFTER ALL THE TEST SO FAR.
