salon products such as redken are usually way more expensive than ones sold at drug stores. this is because they work better for styling hair and for specific hair types, but it does NOT mean that they are better for your hair. they can be just as damaging as anything else
garnier, thermasilk, and suave are all easy to find at stores like costco and walmart, and i have found that all of them keep my hair healthy.

The more expensive shampoo may be a little bit better, but I doubt you could even tell the difference. I use the cheapest shampoo money can buy, and my hair always gets clean.
I've never heard of any harmful chemicals in shampoo, but if they are, they're just as likely to be in the expensive shampoo too.

Everything depends on the name. U pay more for lets say DIOR and CHANEL shades than u do at Wal-Mart. I am not saying they are better or not in quality but the name factor raises the prices. Most products in the mall are from a certain line and they can charge whatever they want for them. Of course they have to add advertising, and other such expenses to it. Brands at other stores are more affordable and those at the mall are just more expensive. It just depends what u want to spend and which line do u prefer.

The more expensive a shampoo is the better the ingredients that went into making it. Cheap shampoos are hard on your hair. The more expensive shampoos are less harsh and won't cause as much damage to the hair (usually).

When you shell out a lot of money for hair products, or any products for that matter, your paying for the quality of the product and the brand name.

weeellll - some people will pay anything for just soap to wash out dirt. They claim they make hair thicker, add protein, etc and etc and etc. They don't. But because people want to believe, they will pay anything. And if you are willing to pay, they and many many like them are willing to sell.
