if you smoke a joint you get high, and experience whatever the drug does to you.

When you're a fundamentalist religious zealot you spend your time preaching hate against Homosexuals and people of other faith.

In terms of the societal impact, which is worse.

Religion or Drugs? If you think Religion then join me in flushing it down the toilet at http://flushaholybook.com

religion is much better than drug, you can get higher cheaper on Jesus than anything you can buy or grow.

and you don't have to preach hate, or hate anyone or thing.
Jesus thought love not hate.

some people are just confused.

I think keeping common sense in perspective is the most important thing. Whether I think homosexuality is acceptable has no bearing on the world view. Other peoples faith are their choice until they choose to create havoc or damage to my fellow humans.

Drug use may cause some people to do the same and similar thing, yet mental illness also causes similar problems in some circumstances.

I won't flush any ones religious edict, just choose the best path that allows me to exist alongside those who may feel different than me.

You're very correct. When you take drugs you only harm yourself, when you are a 'fundamentalist religious zealot' you can potentially harm a lot of people.

Have drugs ever been the cause of a war? Nope.

I wish I could join you. But I can't. I will agree with you that there are many "religious" people out there who are hell bent on condemnation. But let me tell you, those people are the same people who are unable to cope with their own demons! I consider myself a christian. I believe whole heartedly in God and his teachings. I do not believe that those teachings include condemnation of others, rather the forgiveness of oneself and acceptance of others, regardless of their faults. That is the TRUE nature of God. Not what you hear in the media! Religion has become TOO much about condemning people rather than lifting them up, which was what it was intended to do. Some people have homosexual tendencies, some have alcohol and/or drug addictions, others have depression, and on and on and on..........some all of the above. These things to not make anyone a lesser person or less deserving of respect and love from family, friends, strangers, etc. That is NOT what religion is intended for. It is what people USE it for! Every person needs to believe that he or she is worthy and not feel condemned by religious zealots! Please know that there are millions of real christians out there who love everyone with respect for who they are. No one is perfect, NO ONE!!! Those people will pay their price for telling people like you and me we aren't worth anything, because no one is perfect, we are all different, and we were all created that way on purpose.

So I guess I do agree with you!?!?!?!?!

Nope.

Every day you post that link. Is it making your life better?

Drugs are about instant gratification. I know plenty of people who are sorry they got into drugs. I know people who are dead because of drugs.

A spiritual relationship with God requires inner reflection, self-discipline, education, opening up to others, accepting that there are more important things in the world than yourself, and giving to others, expecting nothing in return.

How's that for a comparison?

Something strange happens when you sit down alone and admit you've been wrong. You start to feel better.

You don't seem to have a good fundamental concept of what religion is. Preaches hate... that's just a mixed up statement, hate is the antonym for what happens brother. Drugs do have a hideous impact on society, don't lie to yourself. Specify your drugs at least if you want to do this, unless you want to say that the aids spreading death producing heroine needle junky is better for society than the street preaching, homeless feeding church.

That really depends on the religion and on the drugs. Religion in general is not a bad thing.

Doing drugs is actually a deeply spiritual experience. Religion could be used as a synonymous term with devotion. We say people go to bars "religiously." So, you could say that people who are addicted to drugs are "religious" in their use of them.

Hope this helps!

I agree, but trying to flush it down the toilet is doing exactly the same thing that you claim religion is doing to people.

Oh, I don't know what to think....did you ever have the hillarious pleasure of seeing those Pentacostal guys in action. Looks like they are into the drugs in a big way.

Had the chuckle of a lifetime when I was invited to one of their gatherings.
