I'm looking for a light brown shade of color that doesn't make my hair look red, I used to use light brown but the color was too dark and made me look pasty....... I tried chestnut but it comes out too reddish any suggestions? My hair is naturally a medium brown, I am coloring to cover gray!

If you don't want red tones in your hair you would need to use the ash brown colors, but be careful because they sometimes can turn a greenish hue. Maybe a light ash brown would work for you. Good luck!

always look for a color that says matt or ash. for example usually box colors has a letter and then some numbers look for level 5 or 6 and the letter A, like 5A or 6A, if you go above level 5 or 6, it will be hard to cover gray. don't choose colors with B (brown), R (red) or N (neutral), they all contain red

look for something with a "cooler" name, the ashier it is, the less red it will be..the warmer and deeper is it, the redder it will be.always go lighter than you want because it will show up darker!
