Make sure that you clean your teeth well. Use fluoride toothpaste and a soft toothbrush to clean your teeth twice a day. You could brush your tongue at the same time.
Floss between your teeth.
Avoid foods that are sticky and high in sugars. Bacteria love sugary food that sticks to your teeth!
Have a drink of water after eating, and whenever your mouth feels dry.
Mouth washes and breath fresheners can hide bad breath for a little while, but they don't get to the cause of the problem and their effects do not last. They are also rather expensive.
If you are a smoker, try to kick the habit! Smelling like a dead ashtray can be rather off-putting!

Eat lots of parsley. Or you can take chlorophyll tablets. Or brush teeth and floss, and make sure that your diet and health are not causing the offensive odor (trip to the dr. might be in order). To mask it, you can scrape your toungue, spray it with different breath sprays, eat mints, use mouthwash, or not speak forcfully when you think your breath is offensive. Good health and lots of water should clear it up so that you don't have to hide.

You need to determine the cause of the bad breath. Usually, if you drink water regularly, it should solve the problem.

Aside from the other great tips you've gotten. Eating 2-3 small servings of Low-fat/fat-free yogurt(plain) everyday will help protect your gums/teeth and eradicate bad breath.
Just be sure to stay away from brands with high fructose corn syrup... or excessive amounts of sugar.

Sounds like you need to detoxify your body and put good things into it for cell repair and regeneration. And also see your dentist, as you may have gingivitis and/or you may need a cleaning. Also, brush and floss your teeth a lot.
