The great leader of Mott the Hoople, songs like 'Sweet Jane' 'Dudes' etc. Anyone hear what he's up to these days?

Yes, Dire Straits, he actually invited 'Sting' to do the back up vocals, (I want my MTV) everyone thought it was a Sting song, what a laugh that was. Mark is AWESOME, I wish the younger generation knew about him. Ron Couch

That's a good question. I loved Dire Straits - and still love his songs from then. I also LOVE his compositions that he did for "The Princess Bride" He did the score for that movie - it is an awesome score if you get a chance to listen to it.

But I haven't heard anything about him lately.

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, you mean? I'm a huge Mott the Hoople fan and Mark Knopfler was never a member (that's what I remember, at least.) Nowadays Mark Knopfler just finished an album, though, All Roadrunning or something like that, I think? he did the album with some country singer, but I can't remember her name.

The guy from Dire Straits?

I have a wonderful CD of him playing with Chet Atkins.

He's been making movie scores and soundtracks.

You get the feeling all Mark Knopfler wants to do is to be a musician when everyone else wants him to be this rock god.
To each his own.
