I spent a lot of my childhood up there and I always found Grasmere lovely. Also Windemere because it's not that far from Aira Force where there are some lovely walks. I'd recommend a self catering cottage though. P.S. Ambleside does the best fish n chips.

virtually everywhere you have chose to stay in the Lake District could be romantic. We went for our honeymoon there and it replaced into my first ever flow to and that i've got enjoyed the area ever in view that. Your difficulty is that as we communicate of the year the Lake District is the two busy and rather costly. i could recommend staying at a sort of places: Hawkshead: The Ivy homestead lodge is gorgeous and there are 2 or 3 pubs with rooms. Windermere: very, very busy yet a stunning place as a centre for paying for around the area. Ambleside: some remarkable, and costly inns alongside with Rothay Manor, b&b's and pubs. Kendal: reachable for the M6 and with a good variety of lodging. you're able to purchase the coolest Pub instruction manual which contains suggestions for good pubs with delicate rooms.

Try the Storrs Hall Hotel which is a couple of miles outside of Windermere..It's in a wonderful setting on the lake, serves really nice food and has an open fire in the lounge which is handy in the winter.

The Hotel is on the web at http://www.elh.co.uk/hotels/storrshall/index.php

Yes someone said hat the Shap Wells hotel is good. I would have to agree. I have never actually stayed there as a guest but my Mum and Dad first met there when they worked there as students. my Nan still works there to this day. It is in a good area central to a lot of beauty spots and the prices are reasonable

The Samling Hotel. It's where Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman used to stay.
It's a boutique style hotel. Very nice.
Their website is www.thesamling.com

The Travellers Rest at Grasmere - sit in the beer garden and watch the sunset over Helm Crag. Don't drop any litter there as I have reserved a place for my ashes to be scattered. P E R F I K
