Video File help!?

I have a dvd camcorder, and when I put it on my computer, I can watch all of it, but when I convert it into a format I can edit in moviemaker, I only get about 1/5th of what I recorded. This has happened with a bunch of different videos. I;ve tried several different converters, so I know thats not the problem, and obviously all the information is there because I can watch it before I convert it. And I've already tried stringing all the vob files together...Help!

try contacting the customer support and see what they can do for you, since i do not know the specific camcorder and all that
