Those side effects are expected because of the structure of paxil. Many antidepressants have those same exact side effects.
Hopefully, the side effects will resolve within a month. If it doesn't or becomes unbearable, contact your doctor.
The side effects are even worse when you are on the weaning off process.
Add: the sexual side effects are normal for that class of drug.

I have been on Paxil for about 3 years now and I wish I had never been put on it. I was put on it for anxiety and panic attacks and at first it helped but I feel like I am almost immune to it now. I have gained about 35 pounds since being on it and I have tried to come off of it twice. Trying to come off of Paxil is like hell and it is a vicious cycle. I think I dont need it and then I stop taking it only to get sick physically and mentally from the withdrawal. So now I am on it again. I would tell you from personal experience to try something else, something that has less side effects and is easier to come off of. Good luck.

Ugh. I hated being on Paxil (3 years!)... it made my libido zero out! Your body can adjust to the side effects after awhile... and no, it's not unusual to have more than one side effect at once. If after the three weeks you don't start feeling better then talk to the Dr. who wrote the perscription for you... WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT STOP TAKING THE MEDICATION ABRUPTLY. Read the medical info that came with the prescription or go to the website I listed... As for the 1st persons comment, naturopathic remedys work for some people, not all... and MANY have side effects!

Im not familiar with paxil but I have been on effexor XR for the last five years, taking 450 mg daily. This has really helped me without any significant after effec ts. I suppose the RX given you by a doctor is determined by your own special case and how depressed you may be. I have been seriously depressed for sometime. I a m a63 yr old male.

Two words: "Delayed orgasm."

I don't know if that's ever going to come up for you, but it's one to watch out for. Otherwise you can have all the side effects all at once. With paxil it usually takes awhile to adjust and the side effects go away. But when you're coming off the Paxil, watch out for the "zaps."

Also, those symptoms are probably side-effects, though they could be partially due to anxiety.

And by all means check out the other poster's link for botanical products with no side-effects, as long as you understand that side-effects includes alleviating depression.

My husband was on Paxil, and it was EVIL! Get off it before it takes over your life! There are other pharmaceuticals you can take if you absolutely have to, or you can try out the best route: botannical products which have no side effects.

First off I know a few people who are on it and who have gotten off of it. Side effects are normal and they will pass, however getting off the drug is ridiculous. I have been told it is one of the hardest ones to get off of. Once your on it you will love it but if you do plan to get off, it is very hard. The best one I have heard of is Lexapro. Minimal side effects and is easier to get off of. Whatever you do go off slooooowly. Do not rush off. You will regret it. Also if the side effects are too much to handle ask your dr about klonopin. In very small doses it will help you get through the first few weeks. Also make sur eyou have a good dr. Some dr.'s are not helpful. Be sure you are working with someone good!

OK I WAS ON PAXIL FOR TWO YEARS, IT WAS A HIGH DOSAGE. WHEN I FORGOT TO TAKE MY MEDS I FELT LIKE I WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL SHOCKS IN MY HEAD, IT WAS AN AWFUL FEELING. WHEN I FIRST STARTED TAKING PAXIL I LOST SOME WEIGHT. I FINALLY TALKED TO MY DOCTOR AND SHE CHANGED MY MEDS TO CYMBALTA, PLEASE TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT IT CAN CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS IN THE BABY, RIGHT NOW THEIR ARE LAW SUITS PENDING B/C OF PAXIL. HAVE YOUR DOCTOR CHANGE YOUR MEDS. PAXIL IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU.

A good source for info is Medco.com or Wedmd.com.

all the side effects etc. are listed there.

Also, the doctor who prescribed the medicine for you needs to
know your questions and side effects.

good luck
