I hate to ask a stupid question, but, "What stomach are you trying to lose"?
The way to burn fat is through exercise in general. Exercising only one muscle group will not lose fat. It only tones the muscle group. You have to work whole body for any true benefit. Fat is burned generally in the body. That means the working the stomach area is as likely to burn fat from the legs as it is any place else. Just keep up the good work. Be diligent and patient.
Be warned! Do not overdo it or you will damage your body. You will lose during recovery any gains you may have initially made.

Hi. Situps alone won't be enough; you can't "spot reduce" but rather you have to engage in cardiovascular activitity (moderate to high intensity) 3-5 times a week for 30 min to an 1 Hr, aimed at lowering overall body fat. Watch what you eat and you should be o.k. Good Luck.

No, you need to do more than just "build" the muscle underneath.
Yes, when you burn away the fat you will be able to see the muscle then, but you must concentrate on burning it away.
The best kind of cardio for that is High Intensity Interval Training.
Read lots of nutrition books and LEARN about it to see if you are really "watching" what you eat and eating healthy.

all the literature I have read states that you should do
60 min. of cardio 3 to 5 times a week in order to lose weight.
You of course must watch what you eat also.
all the best to you.

You need to do CARDIO to loose your stomach, crunches will strengthen your stomach but not make you loose weight, but keep doing them because it does help somewhat and it really works if you do cardio with it

No, not even close.
As I like to say... "a lazy workout will only get you a lazy body"... step up the intensity!
