Why do gothic kids slit their wrists and throw knifes at their feet? How do you make them stop?

because it's fun....and it really has nothing to do with being "goth"

Some children and teens follow the "gothic" trend because they are depressed and feel that causing physical pain might ease their mental pain. You can show them that you care or are willing to be a friend if you truly want them to stop hurting themselves. Not all "gothic" people hurt themselves, though. Some kids just like the fashion and the music.

Ummmmmm.......Gothic people don't all do that. That's like me asking why redheads have tatoos everywhere because I know one that does or something. The person you are talking about may be identifying himself/herself with goth because they think it's dark and depressive. They are probably depressed and feel dark. Take this kid to a doc to treat depression, not goth!

Becaue they're not Gothic. They just lable themselves that to be "different" however they are all the same. They need counseling in order to stop.

Cutting is an adiction and may be a symptom of depression or ADD even if they are doing it for 'fun'. It isn't just goths that do it. Many teens do it and they need help and positive attention.

True Goths do not impale them selves with any thing! the cutting is a big sign for the parents to pay attention to them they need something addressed.

I don't think the reason for slicing themselves up has anything to do with being Goth. I was into that in high school and never mutilated myself.

Goth scares me. I would suggest counseling to see why they are acting out in this way.. what other reason would someone cut themselves or throw knives at themselves???

the same way preps take pills and say the are depressed. they need counseling too ya know. how do you make preps stop being royal pains in the butt?

I think everyone is different but, if they are playing with knives that way maybe it is for attention. If you are an adult maybe you should talk to their parents and let them know.
