Women keep telling us that we do. (?)
Men typically have a much better grasp on reality because we apply logic and common sense therefore, we are not hampered by emotion the way women are.
I am not trying to be insulting here, please. It's just that men are programmed to be in control during adversity and women are programmed to be loving and nurturing especially towards the young 'un.
This combination of traits are what makes humanity work so well. The trait from one counters the trait of the other resulting in a pretty good balance.
Thank God we're not all hard-asses or whiny-butts. This place would really be messed up.

The difference is that when we cry we cry alone because humanity would not make any progress if we all sat around crying on each other all the time. The onus is on men to be tough and keep their emotions in check BUT we still feel emotional pain deeply. We just feel it's our duty to be strong for others. How about a bit of respect for that from women?

And, it can seem like the same is true for women. Some women expect to be taken care of so that all the pressure to provide a life is put on the man. He cannot vent his emotions if he is frustrated with his lot in life because women depend on him.
I am not saying that this characterization is true of all men. But, men have emotions. Maybe you just aren't very close to the men in your life.

For someone who is not trying to be offensive you are coming horribly close!
Did you know that 76% of divorces are initiated by women? Guys are usually the ones more devastated by the end of a marraige!
I really do appreciate that you are just asking an honest question, and I'm sorry that the guys you hang around appear to be shallow, but please give us a break.
I am married and I spend my free time and sometimes whole weeknights in community service to others and then go to work the next day.

For a person who says she isn't trying to be offensive, you certainly are doing a good job of it.Your problem may very well be the type of guy you're hanging out with.Men mature kinda like dog years. It takes awhile to realize that it's ok to show emotion.
By the time a man is married,he usually has his emotions under control, and can cry at will, just like a woman. Most choose not to cry, however.

Well, it's not that we don't have emotions - it's just that they get in the way of what we need to do.
Men are terrible with emotions. We don't know what to do. They confuse us and make us doubt ourselves.
I've discovered that it's better to be as emotion-free as possible. We men are about action - not feeling. A man who takes council from his emotions is a fool.
Besides, you DON'T want to see a man when he is showing his true feelings. It is ugly and terrifying.

Guys have feelings too, but they don't express their feelings in the same way women do. Men tend to clam up, and any upset turns to anger. Women are usually the ones to talk out their problems, while men just say nothing at all.

Not sure what your question is exactly. Men do have emotions some just show it better than others. Boys are conditioned from birth onward to be brave etc and i guess this sticks with them.

We are supposed to be tough...THAT'S what society dictates.
It's a real bummer when you have to swallow your emotions and take it like a man, because that's what we are. But we are not heartless machines.
Did you not have a father? A male role model? A male mentor?
