i have a serious problem just focusing.... i was diagnosed with it as a child, and i told my doctor this. its getting worse. i am so easily distracted its having an affect on my work and relationship. half the time my fiance says something i have to have him repeat it because i didn't hear it, i was thinking about something else, but then i cant remember what i was thining about, or the train of thoughts is so long and random its just too hard to explain. as much as i try to focus during meetings i find my mind wandering. i've told my dr this and he made me try lexipro because he feels its stress and anxiety. Well lexipro made me feel even worse! i still drifted into random daydreams, and on top of it could barely stay awake! help!!!

hahaha the "a bit thick" response was great! Serisouly, i love the sarcastic ones because i think the same crap when i read other eoples stuff sometimes! Luckily, i'm quite quick, which allows me some cusion in my performance. I'm one of the youngest in my office, and i do a good job, i just know i have the potential for so much more if i didnt get so distracted...

Find another doctor and seek their opinion, preferably one that deals pacifically with ADD/ADHD.

Once diagnosed as having ADD or ADHD it is for life, BUT most people do learn coping strategies. I know that stress can and does make symptoms and behaviour worse.

I have included some links for you to check out.

Try a high grade Omega 3, getting diagnosed with ADD, is not going to solve the problem, not to mention if you do, it's usually followed up with another drug that may sedate you to allow you to focus, but will interrupt creativity and other useful parts of an overactive brain. You may be deficient of some important vitamins. There is a whole sleugh of possibilities. Consider DNA testing.

I have had clients that were drugged their entire teenagel life and never got better, turned out it was actually lyme disease, or the inability to metabolize B vitamin, or a thyroid in another case. Point is... search for the source...not just the quick fix, because it won't last.

A classic diagnosis is get your doc to proscribe dexadrene in 5mg tablets. increase the dosage daily until
a) you are climbing the walls and cannot sleep - a classic normal response.
b) you take a nap and cannot stay away. This is the classic response of someone with ADD. .. then you and the doc back off the dosage.

If you get the a result you still might have add, but it is not as clear cut.

I know nothing about lexapro, but doing a quick internet search shows that you are probably getting a standard bad result and you need find another pill if you don't feel better in 1 to 2 weeks of taking it. and lexapro sounds scary to me.

I know that a friend of mine is in his late 20's and he has been diagnosed with ADD. I know I had a hard time with getting my daughter diagnosed with Adhd. Do you work? If you do possibly your employr may write a not to your dr if you are doing these things like day dreaming at work.

I thnik your doctor is right but maybe you need to be on a benzo instead. Lexapro is supposed to help with anxiety. I donno. My son takes 40 mg a day and it hasn't helped his anxiety either. Finally put him on a benzo. He has a female friend who had your problem and they put her on Abilify and a benzo. Good luck.
