I directly applied to the University of Turin, and I'm having a hard time getting a student loan, becuase I applied independently and did not go through a unvieristy in the states. Any idea on how to get loans or scholarships?

You may try the following links

www.columbuscitizensfd.org/pages/scholarship.html.
I suggest looking for Italian organizations that offer financial support for those wanting to study in Italy.
Good luck.
