This is more a matter of budget and personal preference than it is etiquette. There is no right or wrong, but be sure you're both in agreement, it would be awkward for them to get you a gift and you to not have something for them.
Also a gift doesn't have to be expensive. You could give them a homemade coupon for a romantic dinner (that you cook at home) or a massage (with you as the masseuse).

I baught my hubby a watch to wear in the wedding, but it really doesn't matter. If you want to get him something meant more for the wedding night, then waite until then. You can do whatever you like. There really isn't any right and wrong anymore when it comes to weddings. You're the bride, plan to your hearts content!!!

I have given my husband the wonderful gift of having me for a life time...a woman who will bear his child. To me that is enough of a gift to give to a man.

I don't think you have to I didn't get my hubby a gift, of course we were really broke and I couldn't afford anything, nor did he give me anything. I think the gift of eternal love is a good gift, maybe write him a little note.

I always thought your wedding bands were your gift to one anouther. Thats what my husband and I gave. If you want to give more you can.but dont feel you have too.

when i got married i bought my husband a gold pocket watch to wear with his suit
and he surprised me with 2 tickets to see robbie williams in paris
it was so unexpected it made me cry
