I HATE Tony Blair, simply for taking our KIDS to Iraq, to risk their young lives, for what??? He dosen`t give a **** about the consequences we are left to deal with, if they are not DEAD, they might as well be, their lives are in tatters, and the military help??? Where is it? My son is a basket case, cause he was sent to hell hole Iraq, ORDERED, he showed bravery, he went, was nearly killed. NOW? Not their problem, i sound bitter, twisted? Damn right i am, where is the loyalty to our soldiers, now THEY need help? Where??? WE need help now, but there isn`t any. We have to rely on the sinking NHSS. Yeh, i`m bitter, and not ashamed to admit it!!

I so feel for you...............I am English living in the USA and my son actually joined the Air Force over here...........BUT with that said like the last time my brother went out fighting alongside the Americans, so twice my brother has laid his life on the line for the what.......................so Blair can look good.......this is NOT about the British liking or disliking the USA far from it before anyone gets their panties in a bunch over that.................it is about the governments toadying up to one another..................

The thing is like your son, mine knew the risks on joining up regardless of whether we agree with it or not the CHOSE to serve and for that yet again the British troops are used up and then spat out.....look at all the ramifications of the Falklands YET another one my brother was in and very little back up once they got home via the military or government............

Hun I wish I knew the answer I just wanted you to know that many others are in the same boat and if we shout loudly enough MAYBE just MAYBE they will listen.

I have NO idea who was silly enough to tell you that they could GAURANTEE no war when he joined........and I know you are to smart to have beleived that bs out of someones mouth.

In MY lifetime.....................serveral several THOUSAND blown to bits in Northern Ireland oh wait that was NOT a war just the TROUBLES.average age of going was 18 RIGHT out of boot camp.............Falklands in the HIGH hundreds lots there with Regan sitting on the fence so much he got an extra crack in his butt...............1st Desert Storm.....second invasion..............

Dad........Northern Ireland 4 TOURS.
Brother.....Falklands, Desert Storm, THIS one........
Me served in Royal Navy
Husband...Serving in US Navy...Desert Storm..........
Son.......... Air Force on his way.........................

I feel sorry for yours son, that he has the feelings that he has, but lets be realistic, he joined the military. What did you think was going to happen? The military or it personal can not guarantee that there will be no war while a person is enlisted.
My husband is An officer in the Army, I knew that deployment went with the job, weather it is a safe or unsafe deployment, but no one made him join, this is what he wanted to do. He wanted to try and make a difference.
I as a wife, and citizen, hate this war, I wish, as does a lot of other people that the guy's didn't have to go over there and could come home, unfortunately this is there Job and I am so proud of my husband.
I also no that what you say about there not being help for our soldiers is true, and that there are so many people out there that are willing to throw stick and stones (name calling etc.) at our soldiers, but yet fail to realize that because of these brave men and women we get to sleep safely in our beds at night, and have the freedoms that we have.

I don't blame you a bit. I would feel the same way. I am American ( almost ashamed to say that now for what this country is and has been doing around the world) and I wonder how the families of our military men and woman feel about them in war now. You know, you go into this service believing that you are making the ultimate sacrifice for your country by doing something noble and good. How do these people feel if and when they can ever realize what the real purposes of their sacrificing is? Am I making any sense to you? Our Vietnam vets have suffered greatly and for what. No , the government officials do not give a ****** about anyone. Everyone is dispensable. I am sorry for your suffering, unfortunately there are too many of you and too many on the other end of the stick too. The cause is to help those in power gain more of it. Prayers are with you.

Do you feel better now that you have got that off your chest?
Soldiers in this country join up to protect their country. Just because they joines up at a time when there was no war doesn't mean they can opt out now. They knew the risks when they "took the Queen's shilling" to use an old expression.
Tony Blair is doing what he can to protect the country & has chosen to stand side by side with USA which is a wise thing considering they are the most powerful nation in the world. We voted him into office so we have to stick by his decisions.
And finally, I do not agree, personally, that USA or UK should have troops in Iraq. There were no weapons of Mass Destruction. George Bush wanted this war in order to obtain oil. Nothing more.

Your son enlisted of his own free will he wasn't drafted. He knew what he was getting into IE the chance that he would go to war at some time. And why just blame Blair, parliament okayed the war not just him. How the hell could you have been guaranteed that he would not be sent to war? there is no guarantee That's what the armed forces are for. With regards to help now he is home yes the one problem this country has is its lack of help to those who have been injured physically or mentally but there is help unfortunately you have to fight for it take it up with your MP, pester the MOD, and your doctor. If he is as bad as you say he is then maybe you should consider putting him in hospital that way he will get the help he needs.

I think Blair is a brave man to go against what his people think. But, I also think that our soldiers should get alot more support that they are getting. Not only do they have to deal with the shootings, killings, and destruction that is going on over there, but also the memories that they are never going to forget and that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. I son't think there is one soldier that will come back and have a normal live like the one he had when he left. They should be treated like royalty and have Bush wait on them for protecting and saving his ***!

well i have to be honest and say i dont. when mine went out to iraq he was packed days before and raring to go. he was even worried at one bit that he might miss out. all you got out of him was the fact that he got paid extra, traded all kinds of equipment with the yanks, and came back with many many momentos from the country. he says that is what he joined up for the thrill of not knowing what was comming next. he seems to love living in a hole in the ground with bullets flying and finds the barracks at home boring.

Did Blair twist their arms to join, if not all this whining is past due needing to shut up. The British have a long history dating back to WW1 for crapping on theirown military. Why did you think this would be different.

He didn't take them anywhere. They know what they are getting themselves into when they enlist.

Yeah but people should know that there is some chance that they will be going to war. It is part of the job. Doesn't take a genius to come up with that.

no pity, if my sons choose to join the forces, a) i would make sure they would be in the right one.
and b) would mention the fact that, they are a pawn in the game of chess.
