A healthy cavalier without genetic problems, who is well looked after, should live to be 15 or more.

You have to remember that his dogs were very pampered dogs and they were allowed free reproduction among themselves So I doubt that they lasted more then 6 or 7 years. I am sorry to say.
But he did love them a great deal and they were treated like royalty. Also a couple of them were burried with him...........
