You simply take God at His word - it's called faith. The Bible says that if you confess your sins to God, He is just and able to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness' so just believe Him. Jesus died to set us free from sin and guilt. He didn't go all the way to the cross for you to be feeling like that. Ask God the strengthen your faith in His word and He will!

p.s. God also said that anyone who comes to Him, He will never turn away. You have His Word!!!

If you become a muslim with sincerity then all past sins are forgiven and you start as if you were a newborn baby.

All actions will be judged by intentions so if you die without associating any partner with god (the one thing that will not be forgiven) then you will eventually be forgiven (assuming you have asked for forgiveness).

You ask forgiveness from your heart, only you and god will know if it's sincere. You may not immediately feel any different but God in His work has promised to forgive all who repent and He is unable by his nature, to go back on His promise

If you knew anything about your alleged religion, you would know that your supposed god does not forgive - he judges. It is for adherents of your religion to forgive. Supposedly, when the day of judgement comes, your god will determine your fate.

Forgiveness by God, through Jesus Christ, only comes to those that have faith in him. Not only knowing that he existed and he continues to live in heaven, and that he died on the cross, but it also means that you trust in him and lean on him for your life. That you believe that you are saved because of him. In addition to trusting in him for eternal life, you must also follow him. Knowing that he is Christ and the messiah even is not enough, but you must have a relationship with him, one that superexceeds your worldly relationship.

Mat 7:23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

It's not enough to just know, but you have to completely follow him and be his disciple. Follow all of the commands in the Bible.

To know that you are saved, you must first believe and God will give you assurance.
A few questions you can ask yourself however are:

Have you been seeing spiritual growth in your relationship with God?
Do you have a desire to follow after him?
Have you been denying yourself to the best of your ability and relying on him to give you that strength?
have you been applying bible teaching, not just learning them?
Do you see spiritual fruit in your life?
Do you have love for God, real love for Him? Do you like to go to church in order to know more about God and to be in his house?
Do you love worship?

This isn't a check list as much as it is a few ideas to think about. Salvation comes through faith; live according to His word and believe in him, and you will have salvation. God does not lie, and the bible is the exact word of God and it is not inaccurate. Believe it when it says, Christ is your salvation and faith in him means that God counts you as righteous and not guilty of punishment.

Assurance through faith.

Know that If you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, as simple as that. I know its not always that easy to accept, but just have faith that as soon as you confess He throws it into the sea of forgetfulness. He loves you don't give up just keep running the race.
