Genesis 6

1Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them,

2that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.

3Then the LORD said, "(A)My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, (B)because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."

4The (C)Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

This is what my student Bible says, it is translated a bit better"
This mysterious description may refer to the "sons of Seth" the line of God's people from Adam to Noah, or it may refer to the angels, often called son's of God in the Old Testament. However you interpret it, the point is that evil behavior increased in the world, a fact that lead to punishment by flood. Does this help?? Peace be with you.

Sons of God are the angels created by him. Some forsook their proper dwelling place and took human form, took wives and had children by them producing hybrid humans(Nephilim).Perhaps creating the myth of the Greek gods.

The sons of God you refer to are the Angels who came down and impregnated the women.
