The Navy operates operation Deep Freeze in the Antarctica. The USCG does have Ice breakers that resupply the bases down there But the USCG only has 3 Ocean going ice breakers. http://www.uscg.mil/pacarea/polarsea/home.htm

So Your only talking about a few spots.

Are there US coast guards protecting the US bases in the antarctic? If there are any in the first place, get in the coast guard to start with, and do so well that you get any assignment you want, or screw bad enough you get relegated there... Either way, you'll need to do egregiously because I bet that there are not many slots to fill.

First off, establish US settlements in Antarctica for the coast guard to protect. Then joint the coast guard and try to get this prestigious position. The problem is those illegal immigrant penguins are stealing all the jobs down there. They say they are taking jobs we don't want, but clearly you want those jobs.
