I took it, and I HATED it. It made me feel nothing at all. Not happy, not sad, not mad ... just nothing. It also took away my sex drive. I got off of it after three months.

I have taken Celexa for quite a few years, before that I was on zoloft and prozac. Overall I think that it works remarkably well. The two side effects that concern me are lowered testosterone and fatigue. There is also a reduced tolerance to alcohol, but I think that it is not as bad as zoloft. Also, I don't think that the alcohol intolerance happens as much with other people. I have heard other people complain about the sex drive/testosterone thing, and I think it is real. I use a supplemental testosterone gel. The fatigue problem I have not been able do much about. I certainly would like to and I will track this question to see if others have problems with fatigue. Since it has a relatively rapid effect it is easier than some of the older SSRIs to manage the dose level.

Celexa and Lexapro are in the same class of medication. They are SSRI's (Selective Seretonin Reuptake Inhibitors). Pharacokinetically they work the same. Celexa was the precursor to Lexapro. All studies of both meds have the same effect at the endpoint. People will have different reactions to any medication. How this works is unknown, but I can take Celexa and have a certain side effect and you could take the same and have no side effect, but the way they both work is identical.

Actually, Celexa is the old form of Lexapro. Lexapro has fewer side effects because they eliminated the inactive suppressors that cause some side effect; now you can take 10mg of Lexapro for the same effect of 40mg of Celexa. Check out the "how Lexapro works" on the Lexapro site.

i'm on Celexa, besides as Klonopin, Seroquel, Depakote, and Wellbutrin, and it rather is rather not a great deal until eventually you're binge eating into unconsciousness and blacking out for 6 hours. some human beings in simple terms sense like **** in the event that they drink collectively as on any given psychiatric drugs, so that they had extremely you not attempt, yet i don't think of maximum folk sense all that diverse. it rather is unlike you will die from it, until eventually you get one among those exceptionally uncommon reactions that require instantaneous emergency interest from an emergency room. I mean, i've got by no potential common a unmarried person that had that style of reaction, yet curiously it happens often times. i think of you're okay to circulate with it. Edit: Leo D is erroneous, and would not look to care to appreciate why you're thinking of it interior the 1st place. as much as i'm constructive you get exhilaration from his empathic difficulty, I in simple terms felt I would desire to ingredient that out.
