I vote for death. Who wants to live forever?

This is a thinking man's question. So far "Doomer X" is the only one who actually thought about the consequences of his choice. Would you still want to be alive in a million, a billion years? And there would be no killing yourself, you would live forever, even if you get burried alive, or tied to the bottom of the ocean, through an ice age, etc.... still want to live forever?

Its hard. If you choose eternal life... you'll not have to worry about dying/ageing but everyone around you would die and age. Having a relationship would be impossible because the pain of seeing them die or wither would be too much. What if the future is a nuclear waste-land. You couldn't even kill yourself to end it all.

But nothingness also scares me. Do you mean that i would cease to exist (even my soul) because that would also be bad but the lesser of the two... um... curses i suppose

We humans have the intellect to overcome the 'death' you speak of, at least theoretically. Perhaps in our lifetimes the technology will exist to stop human aging and deterioration.

Unfortunately, as of yet, this technology does not exist.

For now, the choice has already been made.

I'd like to see the far future though. Forever is a long time, but something just short of that, I think would be very interesting to experience. I hope we get the chance.

-why on earth would you want to choose death? Life is to short for every thing you want to do and if I had an eternity to do the things I wanted to do then I would surley do them.....when you are dead you are just dead, you are a lifeless capsul where life was once held.......sorry I don't want to end up like that! The reason why is that my mom abandoned me and she is also addicted to drugs and if I could live forever I would try and make not new, but the OLD mom I once knew. I would also promote my time to perfecting my acting and singing skills. I hope that you could think of something that would change your mind, and if you think that for one second that I would change my mind out of fear of going poor and having to thrive on almost nothing then you are wromg because I would simply climb my way up......why live life to the fullest when you can live forever!

Wow, though question. I would think that after a couple hundred years of living, I would want death, but I don't think I have lived enough yet at all either. I suppose that I would choose eternal life, just because at least then you have choice and consciousness. It is the least depressing scenario.

Nothingness. The sweet, sweet rest of the grave.

Not that I'm morbid or anything. I'd just get bored.
