Talk to the doctor who prescribed the lithium and wellbutrin. Xanax does relieve anxiety and helps with nerves. However, you need a doctor to decide which medicines are ok to take together. If your insurance will let you see a psychiatrist, they are the best at finding the right combination of medication to help you. Just don't take other people's medications or let another doctor (who doesn't know what you are already taking) add new drugs. Xanax helps a lot of people with anxiety, but too many people don't realize it is a controlled substance because it can so severely interact with other drugs -- and alcohol. It appears that Ann Nicole Smith's son died of a drug overdose and all 3 medications were taken as prescribed, but the combination was lethal.

Xanax (alprazolam) is helpful with anxiety but I do not recommend you use it. It's only a short term help and is very addictive. You must speak with your doc about anxiety. (I am the most anxious person ever). I have tried several antidepressants and found that lexapro helps ME more with anxiety. Talk to your doctor.

Yes, Xanax (Alprazolam) is indicated for anxiety. It is the #1 most prescribed medication for this and generally well tolerated. It is a controlled medication, however, and there is a risk for addiction.
