Probably yes. Best advice is to indulge in as much foreplay as possible. The more aroused and turned on you are when you have sex, the more enjoyable it will be. If you are tense or anxious, its much more likely to hurt.
Also depends on the size of him. I lost my virginity to someone who had a penis the size of my little finger so it didnt hurt at all.

To prevent the pain you have to make sure your body and mind is completely relaxed. Make sure you are ready for the next step in your relationship. It still may hurt a little bit. My first time didn't go to well for the simple fact I was not ready at all and I thought I was. Try not to worry if you will be good or not because your attention will be on that and not him. If it is his first time you have nothing to worry about if your good or not. If it isn't his first time he will understand your performance, and if he doesn't understand then don't waste your time on someone like that.
You sound that you are mature for the simple fact you said
"make love" Don't worry so much, and just relax.

It does hurt the first time you have sex but there is nothing you can do to prevent the pain except relax. The pain comes from your hymen breaking.

There is nothing you can do to prevent the pain, but it doesn't hurt that bad. Don't worry about it. Worry about what you will do if you get pregnant instead.

Make sure there is plenty of forplay..
Make sure you are well lubricated..
You may need some extra lube the first time
as you may be nervous and not self lubricate well naturally..
Your size and your partners size will also effect any pain however
within normal sizes and conditions...It should not be anything
to worry about...
