I was married to a police officer for almost 9 years (we are now divorced) and every other officer that I met had cheated on their significant other... why is that?

In thier job, it is very dangerous and stressfull. You, as the wife or husband of a cop, is a safe thing. Sometimes they just feel like it is too safe. Also, in my own family history and research, they mostly do cheat with other cops. That is the stress and fear coming to head.

"All" Police officers do not cheat, I have been married to one for 14 years and he has never cheated. Like I have said many times a few "bad" ones make all of them look bad. Look at their jobs. It gives them freedom; a lot of young and old woman throw themselves at them on a regular basis; they can use over time, court, or extra pay jobs for an excuse for not being home. This does not give them an excuse but there are more people in this world then you think that would cheat if given an easy opportunity.

I work in a fairly good size police department and I can tell you that most of our officers are married and happily so. I think you are stereotyping all officers because of one situation. Officers are normal people just like anyone else. Some will have failed marriages and some won't just like any other occupation.

A lot of police officers cheat on their spouses or even people they are in a relationship with because there are a lot of young people of both sexes that will offer sex in exchange for favors. Some people cannot resist temptation, and sometimes as you said you were married to a police officer for nine years, and things can become boring in a long term relationship. Hopefully you do not blame yourself because communication is sometimes lost in a busy, stressful life. Good Luck in your next relationship.

Speak for yourself. My husband is a part time deputy and has never cheated on me. I trust him completely. Maybe it is the difference in being part/full time with the department. huh? or maybe you should have kept him happy at home.

Some officers are thrill junkies and live on the possibility of being caught. It is sad that it is that way.

My condolences on your situation.

I am sorry for your misfortune, but I cannot accept that every police officer is unfaithful.

It's the old story about everything about you says something about who you are.
A certain type of person chooses to be a policeman.
And unfortunately for you cops tend to be self centered and rarely faithful or indeed that honest.

Here is your chance to ask cops question and instead take pot shots at them from your computer. I could answer but forget it, why bother with answers when you can stereotype the whole lot of us.

Because most police officers have a chip on their shoulder and think they rule the world and think they can do anything they want. pigs
