Bring your favorite robe or buy one. You'll be naked but they'll let you wear a robe and cover with a small blanket. (Receiving blankets worked for me)
They'll do a pap smear and a pelvic exam. Both are painless just annoying.
The ultrasound wand will look like a candle covered with a condom smeared with ky jelly.
The baby will look like a wad of bubble gum divided into 2 parts and 2 small arms and legs begining to form.....might try to listen to the heart
They will estimate your due date by last period and what the ultrasound machine says.
Lots of personal questions and genetic stuff. (ask your and his parents about birth weight of you siblings and husband and siblings and any problems and have this in mind when you speak with your OB)
You'll see the dr once a month until the end of the second trimester then once every 2 weeks until the last part of the prgnancy. You'll see the ob once a week then.
You'll only be completely naked during the first visit. Toward the end you'll have a couple of bottoms down appointments so bring a nice blanket that you like to those.

First you take a pregnancy test just to make sure. Then they weigh you and blood pressure. Plus if you ha vent had your yearly physical they do that too. Doctor ask questions like do you smoke and about the baby's father. He'll ask if you have any questions that's it. You schedule for another app in 4 more weeks. It takes about 10-12 weeks before you hear the baby's heart beat and the measure to see how your belly and uterus is growing. You usually don't have an ultrasound until 5 months. You app will be every 4 weeks and then 2 and eventually 1 a week until you have the baby. Oh and they do blood work to...just close your eyes through that part.

You will have an appointment once a month (as long as there are no complications) until 36 weeks, then you go once a week.
Most doctors schedule the first prenatal app. between 7-12 weeks.
You will be asked questions about family history of the mother and father of the baby to be.
Weight will be check
Pee in a cup to check for sugars and proteins.
Asked questions on how you are feeling, nausea vomiting, any swelling, headaches, cramps, spotting or bleeding
Given an opportunity to ask any questions you feel you need to know.
pap smear and check for any std's (just routine they have to)
The ultrasound to find your approximate due date ( I'm 20 weeks and my due date has changed three times, this is common)
and I believe that is it.
Good luck, don't be nervous, and make sure to ask lots of questions. You don't want to leave and still be wondering about something. I like to make a list of questions I want to ask so that I don't forget.

I've had 3 kids, and NEVER had an ultrasound on my 1st visit.. they usually do a PAP smear, and check for any abnormalities, and your doc will probably feel around inside you really good, (can be a bit uncomfortable) to check your cervix placement and things like that.. they may do blood work, and of course a full history and weight check, they might use a dopplar to try and hear the babys heart beat which is really neat.. I saw the doc 1ce a month until my 7th month then every 2 weeks until my 9th month then 1ce a week, I had an ultrasound around 5 months with all mine, and NEVER had an internal ultrsound while I was pregnate..

I didn't know I was pregnat until after 8 weeks and no your first prenatal you won't have an ultrasound. they can't even detect a heart beat until after the first trimester. once a month in the first trimester every other week the second trimester once a week the third trimester. With me they did a full check up measured my belly checked for a heartbeat even though they couldn't find one until after the first trimester. they will have you do a pregnancy test to confirm. Anyway in your third trimester they will do the ultrasound. if your less than 8 weeks pregnat they wouldn't see anything on the ultrasound the baby is microscopic at this point. Good Luck It's not scary listen to your doctors guidance and everything will be ok Congrats on baby!

As far as I know that is normal. I didn't see a doctor until I was 12 weeks pregnant. Of coarse I went to the health clinic due to insurance reasons. My first visit they checked my urine for protien, they checked my weight, blood pressure, fetal heat rate, fundus height. They will ask you a bunch of questions about how you are feeling so far. From the time you get pregnant up until you are 7 months you will go to the doctor once a month. Then at 8 months you will go every two weeks and your last month until you deliver you will go once a week

You won't get an ultrasound at your first prenantal. That doesn't come until the 16th or 17th week. You can expect blood tests, maybe a visit to the maternity ward if your doctor practices in hospital, urine tests, a regular check up to be sure you health is as it should be. You'll get some dieting and exercise tips.

Well you're probably going to get a papsmear if you havent yet. Then they will do a vaginal ultrasound. Feels kind of uncomfortable but not painful. Of course they're going to weigh you and assess you. But after everything you'll get to see your baby for the first time. You'll have an appointment every month until your eighth month and then every week until you go into labor. Then you will be checked to see if you are dialating.

they will do a Pap test and a check of your cervix. They will test you for any STDs and they will take some blood for other tests like blood sugar and other things. The ultra sound will actually be a camera on (for lack of a better term) pole (its padded in a way so dont be worried) but you insert it in your vagina and they will prob around and take the first pictures of your baby. Good luck!!! and congrats!
