It not that there is anything particularly wrong with Americans but other countries are being brainwashed to be just like them. Eg, satellite tv is full of American tv shows and cartoons. A great many local born youngsters where I live actually have an American accent!!! I'm in SCOTLAND!

Just like the British? I hold no brief for the American way of life, based as it is on the Hayek principle that Freedom is to accept or starve. Economically you have to have exploited people in order to have rich people, simple really BUT a system no matter how bad is not the people and on many visits to the States I can truthfully say that most Americans are kind, generous and self-aware to the point of poking fun at themselves. We used to do that but now we take ourselves far too seriously. I don't like the aggressive foreign policy shared with the US either, so vote them out! Look closely at America and see yourself.

It is a shame you feel the way you do about Americans. Even more pittiful because you don't know "us". Most of us do care about the enviroment, don't shoot each other. We care about the enviroment because we want better for our children's future. I don't see us on Fox News or CNN walking the streets with an oozie with nothing to do ... know why? We are all at work.
Not being mean, unlike your post, but we are a civilizied - God-fearing, loving nation. We work hard everyday for what we have (or the lack there of).
We are not all what you see on TV or read about. All our women are not sluts, and men whoremongers. We don't all use drugs and nor are we drunks. We are a nation of individuals who are loving and only want the best for our fellow Americans and others around the world.
All the world has different "customs" and "doings" ... like we shower daily and use deodorant.
I support Bush, I voted for Bush - but I do not have to agree with everything he has done. As the saying goes: Hate the sin, love the sinner. He is only doing what he thinks it right - and we do not know everything that goes on in the day to day workings of the government. I really think that he does things for reasons we do not understand - or will ever know about.
I support our troops 100%. I believe that we need to protect ourselves against impending dangers. And, when the time comes that your country has a problem, needs money, etc. - you will turn to us. Like it or not, that is the case. America has a vast amount of wealth. It is sad, but our most poorest citizen is actually wealthier than the average other non-American.
I will pray for you.

HI American here. First did not vote for him or his papa. Secondly I'm not alone in the feeling that he stole the elections not once but twice. He's screwed us and lied to us and put our military where they don't need to be. We have hungry hard working people here who can't afford health care, housing or food. Yet he puts other countries down. I can't be alone in the feeling that for our country to be the richest in the world laughable. I walk to work everyday and see the dispair here.Go to Washington DC and see the homeless and tell me that they're all drug addicts. They are not they lost their homes from job layoffs and can't get assistance cause of no address. Sad isn't it. Like my grandma says take care of home before going outside. Stop throwing stones if you live in a glass house.

I don't understand all this America-bashing. I've spent some time there (I'm English) and let me tell you there are far worse countries than America!!! As it was pointed out before, you don't live there so why do you care?! I'm more scared and concerned about some other countries like Singapore where chewing gum in public is actually illegal! Get some perspective and just learn to accept what is. Great Britain isn't without it's problems either!

The world is buggered, maybe the yanks realised this before us and have just given up completely and are trying to eat and pollute themselves to death.
lisandie, the Americans couldn't educate pork, give up while the going is good.
The USA have a system of government that's closest relative is the French political/governing system, potentially it is the greatest system of government ever, unfortunately a few very powerful and rich people have hijacked the country and are running it for their own benefit. If America ever returns to the ideals of its founding fathers I would crawl through a pit of snakes to have the honour to live there.

Don't you remember the last election, the Florida vote was rigged!
You could apply your question to the UK also, how has that tosser Blair (***-wit's puppet) been kept in power so long? There can't be that many communist idiots in the country voting for him
Even worse , we will have a communist Jock at the helm soon...
... where's my passport?
Tori_Bird - 99% is a very big majority...durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Im no fan of Bush but your comment is infantile. The United States is not the only country in the world to commit atrocities. Its people like you who make generalistaions about an entire race that perpetuate the world's problems.
