All can be Saved, but only those selected to serve in heaven as the bride class are Born Again. They are the ones who take part in the first resurrection when Christ made his second presence known when the signs of the last days began being fulfilled. Only the person, him or herself, knows they are born again. The only visual cue that they are born again is when they partake of the bread and the wine, once a year, on Niacin 14.
Beyond they, they become basically servants to everyone else. They are not on Earth to lead, but to help guide people. They do not demand or require recognition, or positions of power in a congregation or religious organization. They will serve for 1000 years as overseers in Heaven, to help guide those "other sheep" who survive Armageddon, or take part in the second resurrection. The Bible does not say what happens to them once the 1000 years is up.
Those not born again Christ referred to as the "Other Sheep not of this fold" who though saved, enter God's Kingdom on Earth, helping to tear down the vestiges of the old system and rebuild the planet back into a Paradise. After the 1000 years, perhaps we head out into the rest of the Universe to explore and terraform other planets.

I have read all the answers, most are waffle, none hit the point, some speak the true (Mormons are part Christian, from the mouth of one) To be 'Born Again' you need to except the Lord Jesus as your savour and be baptised in his name. The baptism gives you a new life, a fresh start. That is how to be born again. A true Christian will not change the bible to suit themselves or the world as many have done over the years i.e the Mormons, the Witness's and even the Catholic Church. The Anglican church synod are talking of doing the same, the Methodists have done so and the Museums changed it around 400ad All are fallen in the eye's of the Lord. but he still loves you!

Simply repent and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life. If you have so many questions, consider doing an alpha course, it's not threatening, it's friendly. Here's the link to the site so you can find one near you. Or go to church! They are not all bad,,,,,try to find one that is spirit led. The other link is to the group of churches I belong to because I know they are sound people.
The 'born again' bit is a spiritual birth, not a physical one. I only became a christian when I got filled with the holy spirit, not because anyone told me what to believe because they tried and I didn't take any notice. The Spirit of god will change you from the inside and give you peace.

From the Calvinist side of the fence, I look at salvation and being "born again" as not having anything to do with what we think are our abilities. We are saved by grace, not by any asking or claiming of Christ's propitiation for our sins. God simply puts the faith within us and our eyes are opened. We don't control being born -- why does anyone think that they have the power to give themselves new life again?
That brings us to the doctrine of predestination, where salvation occurs as a result of not only fore-knowing, but fore-loving in the biblical sense of intimacy. In other words, God the Father loved His own before the beginning of the world, God the Son took our place on the cross, and God the Holy Spirit put that belief in our hearts. God Triune saves and sanctifies Christians.

Basically this means to realise that you have sinned against god and against your fellow man in the past, are sorry and committed to living a better life. For catholics, it is an ongoing process based around the sacraments, for some other Christians, it is a one-off moment which rights all wrongs and creates a perfect union with God. For other faiths, it may mean an acceptance of their tenets and a commitment to a better life.

We can only be saved in the last moments of life....the deciding factor happens then. If I am "saved" and then go out and kill somone, I am not "saved" and so if I die without the chance to repent, then I am damned. If I am "saved" and then go next door and spread ruinous gossip about someone I know and then die on the way home, I am not saved, I am probalby damned!
The bible tells us to work out our salvation in fear and trembling. It also says that those who persevere till the end only are saved. Jesus died so that we may have eternal life, but it doesn't mean we can do as we please and expect to gain Heaven. That would be presuming upon God's mercy. Not one of us can be sure of our salvation until we die. But we work it out in fear and trembling.

Realise that you have done wrong. Realise that Jesus allowed himself to be punished for every wrong thing you have ever done (or ever will do). Get baptised in water to symbolise death and rebirth, get baptised in The Holy Spirit so that you can share in Christ's power and be transformed into who you truly are. Live a life loyal to God, in other words, love all, forgive all, show mercy, judge no-one. Trust God for everything in your life.

Some people just think that all you have to do is say sorry for all of your sins, and you are saved. Do people really think it works that way? My religion believes in a Repentance process. Jesus died on the cross to forgive us for our sins. We need to recognize our sins, pray to the Lord for forgiveness, say sorry to anyone that was involved. It has to be a real heart-felt process.
