playdoh keeps my kids busy for a long time. They play it in the kitchen, and I put a vinyl tablecloth on the table. The "crumbs" can easily be cleaned off the table and the floor. Also, I've just spread out a vinyl tablecloth on the front porch before and let them go at it.

Crafts is always fun and easy.
Playing store by setting up various items in the room and giving them baskets to "Purchase" Let them take turns who is clerk and who is the shopper.
Make up a story - start the story out and then let them each add their own part to it...then make a book together with your story you all made up together (letting them draw pictures to depict - you write the words) and give to their parents when they get home.

you can play games such as monopoly or sorry depends on how old the children are. if they are 3-6 they enjoy things like coloring books, ( i suggest you don't give them magic markers), puzzles, if they are 7-11 i think that they might like stuff like an electronic hangman or battleship.

Coloring books, imagination games, hide-n-seek (everyone hides alone), and any type of board game depending on their ages.

You can find pages to color at the following web site (http://www.papajan.com/) if you do not have coloring books.
