If that is not a crime, they should only arrest people using drugs and not those providing it.

It's a felony. Federal crime and a state crime. Federal law supercedes state law but no one enforces these laws. However..

Citizens are saying enough is enough with hospitals having to declare bankruptcy due to not getting enough reimbursement from Uncle Sam to pay for the expense of illegals, the rise in crime, etc. State governments are under pressure to do something and some are the problem is now that it is such a big problem there's not enough police or jail space to house the illegals which is now why some states are building special prisons just to hold illegals in.

In Tennessee a business loses it's business license period not for a few months if it's found to be hiring illegals the state seizes the property and the business is shut down immediately and is not allowed to reopen ever again but that law hasn't been enforced since the 70's.

There is a practice called demagnetization in which a state goes after businesses that hires illegals and punishes any government employee and their supervisors for approving state or federal support such as food stamps for illegals with major fines and jail time. The belief is if you take away the incentive for illegals to come they won't come and as it spreads state by state eventually they'll not want to come back.

In the private sector now hospitals are charging a waiting fee for anyone coming to the emergency room for a non-emergency ailment such as the common cold. Often illegals will go to an emergency room for this because they can get away with not paying and cause overcrowding and delays for real emergencies.

You've got a vote...use it.

Of course it's a crime. However, no one against illegal immigration does anything about it because it benefits them. The only issue I keep seeing on here is the one about keeping illegals out. The fact that they know they'll be hired is a HUGE reason why they even come in the first place.

If America is so serious about getting rid of illegals, stop bitching about how badly you want them out of the country, and go after the ones making it possible for them to live here.

It is a crime, it's just that the people that hire the most illegals also make very large campaign contributions, so it gets overlooked.

It is a crime. My last company was caught hiring illegals and was heavily fined for those employees they cannot produce legal documents. There are some employees who brought in false identification and the company was not fined for those.

BTW, the company was caught because somebody called in a tip to the INS. If you know any company hiring illegals, report them!!!

It is a crime to hire illegal aliens. Really, where do you come up with these un-factual questions?

If the basic American economy wasn't so regally screwed with CEO's making thousands of times what workers make, with CEO's getting golden parachutes even when they make a company fail, with the wealthy not being audited for taxes while the rest of us are, well there wouldn't be a problem. But since we're not allowed to notice these REAL problems, we're told by the man behind the green curtain to hate the beaners.

And dutiful little munchkins, we do.

Here's the existing law.

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

assists an illegal alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or
encourages that illegal alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or
knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime. Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his or her work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

You are wrong its a Federal Law and its a felony

It is a crime. In fact, employers are supposed to fill out I-9 form which verifies a person's legal ability to work in the US.

Of course, its not enforced....

It is up to state to decide whether hiring illegals is a crime. For, instance, in my state it's illegel, but in the next state its not.
