Since the Gospel message states all other religions are evil.

When any belief system is used to defame and denigrate others, or their beliefs, it is judging (and discrimnation and bigotry to boot).

It's the difference between attacking - which it sounds like you are doing - and defending your own beliefs.

Why not try tolerance, justice and peace for a change? WWJD?

I think the question you need to ask yourself is whether or not you can accept the possibility that your religious beliefs might be wrong. (I'm not saying they are, I'm just putting the question to you). If you think about it, there are two ways you can look at faith. One is that you think you know that you're right and everybody else is wrong. The other is that that's what you think, and therefore that's what you have faith in, but that it's possible that you're wrong.

How did you decide to have faith in the Bible? Why not the Quran? Why not the Tao Te Ching? How does one decide what to have faith in? I think you'll have to answer these questions before you can know whether you're being judgemental of others.

Also, let's not think in purely black and white terms here. It's possible that more than one religion is right or even that they're all right. Maybe holy books weren't written to be taken literally, but as metaphors for the ineffible (unknowable) Divine which defies understanding in words. Maybe the people you're "sharing" with really worship the same Divine but only use different metaphors for understanding that ineffible mystery.

If you think that you're absolutely right and everybody else is absolutely wrong, then, yes, I think you ARE judging. You've judged their beliefs as false. You've CHOSEN your faith. They've come to whatever conclusions THEY have about the divine. In my opinion, it's only if you make room for the possibilities that they might be right or that they might have something equally good to share with you, that you can share your religious beliefs in a non-judgemental way.

Sharing goes both ways. If you're really talking about sharing without judgement, you should be receptive to others sharing with you. For example, if you tell a Buddhist about your Christian beliefs and he or she tells you about Buddhist meditation, would you be willing to try Buddhist meditation and see if it improved your life? If not, I think you ARE judging.

Personally, I hate to say it and I mean no offense, but I find a lot of people who claim that they're "sharing" the Gospel, but who are really judging me, to be abusive, Sadistic, cruel and self-righteous. I think that a lot of people who call themselves Christians are really in it because it makes them feel superior to tell others that they're going to burn in Hell and because they LIKE hurting others.

With all due respect, I think if you really believe in sharing, rather than Sadism, you need to be receptive to others sharing with you (but in that case, you'd also have the right to distinguish between someone trying to share with you in a non-judgemental way and someone trying to force their beliefs on you in a judgemental one.)

BTW, I'm not sure where you get the notion that the Gospel "states that all other religions are evil". If that's what you believe, then I think you've already judged others. When I last read the Gospels, it seemed to me much of Jesus's indignation about other religions came from the JUDGEMENTAL things that people like the Pharisees were saying about HIS religion, not so much that he/He (I don't want to offend either Christian or athiest by capitolizing or not capitolizing the name :) ) was judgemental about anybody else's.

The word "gospel" means :good news", so how is sharing good news judging? it's in how you do it that you judge or not. As for other religions, there can be only one truth, since two conflicting statements can't both be true. It has nothing to do with respect, just the truth.

Dude it's just sharing...remember when you were a kid and you'd share your toy with someone? It was still okay for them to say "no thanks."

But not everyone's gospel message says that all other religions are out there. My understanding of the Gospel is that many other religions have truths out there, we just believe we have a little more.

The gospel of Jesus christ is not about other religions. It is the story of His coming as a sacrifice for the sins of all men. As christians we are commanded to spread the good news of Jeusu. In so doing , often we encounter people who do not understand sin and ned to come to an understanding of what the Bible teaches us about sin and its ramifications on our lives. We hate the sin, but not the sinner.

absolutely--who are we to judge whether or not somebody else actually needs saving? who are we to judge all other religions as wrong?Who are we to say that someone who speaks from their heart with their god in the garden is less in touch with one who repeats rote memorised services in a church full of people? Who exactly do we think we are to think we know all and know what is best for everybody else? three guesses and the first two don't count
