It depends on what you mean by later age. If you mean getting married after your late thirties, then obviously at that age your fertility is not as high as when youo are in your twenties. More and more women nowadays become mothers for the first time in their later thirties or even early forties so maybe it isn't too bad. I think the best time to become a mother is probably in your late twenties or early thirties.

I would suggest that if you are planning to marry in say you 50's or 60's, I would get pregnent in perhaps youe 20's or 30's. Hope this helps
