im sure theres more to it. theres a lot of verses ive read in the bible that ive found to have meanings that are literal and/or that could be experienced within your mind. for example, something about those who are pure in heart will see god. that can be literal, or more...you know that the person will understand.

being born again is about your spirit, dead in sin. when you are born again you are supposed to receive the holy spirit.

like when they talk about israels blindness, you know? its like, youre not blind anymore. the holy spirit guides you to understand what a carnal mind could not.

i think its that you belong to god and he confirms that when he says...."Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

John 3: 5 Jesus speaking:
NO ONE can ENTER the Kingdom of God without being born of water (baptism) and SPIRIT.
6 What is born of the flesh is FLESH, and what is BORN of the SPIRIT is spirit.
7. Do not be astonished that I said to you, 'You must be BORN from ABOVE.'
8 The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it.... but you do not know where it comes from -- or where it goes.
So it is with everyone who is BORN of the SPIRIT.

The first birth is that of when we enter into this world in the human body.

The second birth is that of the belief in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Following Him in baptism, which represents His death on the cross, our death to, His burial in the tomb, the spirital burial of our sinful nature, His resurrection, our being raised to new spiritual life in Christ.

*smile* Nicodemus asked this of Jesus. How can a person be born again, he asked? To be born again, in the context of being a Christian, means you are born of the spirit of God. When a person repents of their sin and truly accepts Jesus Christ as their savior, the spirit of God indwells that person. That is what is meant by being "born again".

Blessings to you,

Christ said "you must be born again" when speaking to Nicodemus, a religious leadr at the time of Christ. It means to die to self and be born of the spirit. Baptist is repreentative of thsi dying to the flesh and being risen to a new spiritual life with God and the holy spirit.

"Born again" is not just a figure of speech. Jesus told a religious man "You must be born again" (See John chapter 3). It means to be born of the Spirit of God. A born-again Christian is someone who has repented of their sins and turned to Christ for their salvation, and as a result has become part of God's family forever. All this takes place as God's Spirit works in our lives.

You see, by nature we aren't members of God's family, and we don't have any right to inherit eternal life. The reason is because of our sin. We have rebelled against God, and because of that, the Bible says, we are "separated from the life of God ... due to the hardening of (our) hearts" (Ephesians 4:18). No, you may not see yourself as a bad person (and you probably aren't)—but in God's eyes even one sin is enough to keep you out of heaven.

But Jesus Christ came to save us and to make us part of His family forever! He did this by dying for our sins on the cross and by conquering death through His resurrection. You see, as a human being you were born into a family—and nothing can ever change that. But when we come to Christ we are spiritually reborn into another family—the family of God. The Bible says to Christ's followers, "You have been born again ... through the living and enduring word of God" (1 Peter 1:23).

My prayer is that you too may be born again and become part of God's family. By a simple prayer of faith, tell God that you know you are a sinner, and you are sorry for your sins. Then ask Christ to come into your life and save you. When you do, God will come to live within you by His Spirit, and you will be born again.

Spiritual rebirth. Read John Ch. 3, it explains it quite clearly. I asked my Grandma to ask her priest if the last pope was born again, man was she unhappy with me.

The true Greek rendering was, "born from above". KJV translators chopped that one up.
