I just bought stainless steel backsplashes, and absolutely love them. I got them at potterybarn.com, they have 2 available sizes. I have the 36 x14 size ($40 each) , and I forget the other size. They were easy to install, and easy to clean. They also have great stainless steel accessories, if you're interested.

Check with a contractor in Crescent City, or the Bruce Brothers in Brookings, Oregon. There is a builder there too who would know, I am unsure of the spelling of his last name, I think Sirchuck, one of the Bruce boys would know.
