Most of your answers didn't even come close the meaning of what, that old time religion was.
Old time religion means to be governed by moral standards.
Women didn't dress like Brittney Spears. We lived by rules that applied to us even after we left church. Stores were closed on Sunday. When you had a job the boss actually cared whether or not you could live on the wages you were paid. People respected each other. Children had respect for their elders. Drivers didn't "flip off" other drivers. The welfare state begin from old time religion, which was a good and kind thing to do for poor people.
Most girls are virgins when they got married. Children went to school every day and worked at home when they got there. Children didn't call their parents names. Children didn't get an allowance, they got money by working for it. People actually voted. We didn't have social workers, guidance councilor's, grieve councilor's, because after all we had parents. If you smart mouthed the teacher you got it from him/her, and got it again when you got home.
People helped each other. Boys didn't walk around with their pants half off their butt. In short, old time religion, governed our entire lives. there is much more I could say but you get the idea.

The old time religion was a traditional type of service. The current times religion is more casual with up-beat music and a band instead of a choir.

Old Time Religion is preached the way the Bible says, the Preacher does not water down the gospel just to keep from hurting Mr. Money Bags feelings. The Current Religion of today, Preachers preach to get people so they can get money, they could not care less if a soul dies and burns in hell as long as they get their pay check in the mail. My husband, Thank God, is one of the Old Time Preachers, he always tells the people, "If I offend you I will Apologize, if the Word offends you get it right with God."

Are they talking about "burn the witches at the stake" old time religion? Spanish Inquisition perhaps?
What's the difference. The "new" religion is just as loud but a little less violent. For now.

Larry is a moron. I would say one big difference is the King James Bible vs newer versions. The hymns of the faith vs the so-called "Christian Rock", etc. Even some of the worship music today is a bit carnal.
One other thing is the presentation of the gospel. A lot of modern churches use plays, skits, and concerts to convey the gospel message whereas in the old days and in some churches still, they use the preaching from the pulpit by a biblically sound preacher.

Everyone knows the old time religion is better. Back when you could have your slave drive you to church and women did not vote it was all better. Even back when you could take those uppity spiritual types from the sticks and crucify them for defying the ways of the priests at the temple. Stick with the old tried and true. It is best. That way we get to reject some one else. They are not right if they are not like us!

Back in the old days they practiced what they preached--their beliefs were truly sacred to them and worth dying for. People knew what their religion was all about, and didn't assume that jesus was just going to save them no matter how incompassionate, cruel, and judgemental they were--in fact they believed the opposite. It was still all Effed up, but at least they were trying--Christians today have no reason to

Old time religion, kept prayer in school

We need new strangth in our faith,
