I usually keep it covered until the last 10 minutes then let the potatoes harden slightly before serving.

Shepherd's Pie sounds great!

Cover at least the rim so you don't get burnt edges. If you decide to cover the whole thing, take the cover off 5-10 minutes before it is done cooking so you can brown the top.

So yes, cover it less the heat burnith it when you're not looking.

I don't cover mine,but I always have shredded cheddar cheese on the top of mine.Which I prefer browned.

i would. this just helps make sure that the top is not burned, but the inside still gets cooked through. just lightly cover w/ foil.

you dont have to! it will cook nicely without being coverd, and the top will be crisp and yummy! cover with cheese to make it extra yummy!
