While I don't necessarily accept your examples for singling out, I think what you'll find if you monitor the majority of Christians and Muslims is that they want the best for themselves, their families, their communities, and to be allowed to follow their own beliefs. Just like the Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, etc.
The only ones that push the conflicts are those on the fringe. Unfortunately, we selected a bit of fringe for the White House the last two elections. Let's see if we can trim it back again, next chance we get.

No, I do not believe so. Each person is an individual. With God, He gave free will, to follow His direction and some turn from that. It is good to look at a mass of people and read the bible, then you might be able to get a view of the faith, try reading the book of John in the NIV (new international version). That might help.
Same with those in the Islamic faith, those I do not agree with them, I can not look at them as a whole by one man's actions. The group is peaceful for the most part, but the fact that they kill those who convert to any other faith, and mistreat the women in the faith with more value on dogs, well you can see why many are not following.

No matter what other people believe in, the BIBLE speaks so much about comminity and its importance. See, who just hear a christian talk about God and become a christian themselves. It doesn't work that way in most cases. For someone to see the good works of a christian simply loving on them, sharing converstations, becoming friends, allows the person to listen to a christians beliefs.
Don't hang around with iffy christians though. Many "christians" don't even know how to love their enemies. That's really sad. You want strong christians, people on fire for God.

No,
you have to learn about the fiath by first reading and understanding the texts of the faith and the writings of its main leaders just to begin to understand faith. There are theologians and priests who've been studying religion for decades some with three degrees in the area who'd admit to you that they fully don't understand their own religion!

Follow Christ. Or in your words "monitor" Christ and His life by reading His Word. That's the best way to learn how to live the Christian life. He did it perfectly. We will never do it perfectly but that's what forgiveness is all about.

No, you can only know what Christianity is by knowing what the Bible says. Ghandi himself said, "I would gladly be a Christian, if it weren't for Christians". In other words, they sure don't act like their leader. Its not the "heathen" that need revival. Its Christians.
Sorry to say, I don't always act like my Saviour, though I should.
The biggest problem is that Ghandi, as great a man as he was, is probably burning in hell. The Bible says our own works cannot save us (Ephesians 2:8,9).

people cannot be the ideal christian all the time, they can only try. if you want to understand christianity, read one of : Matthew, Mark, Luke, John (esp John). try 'The Word on The Street' or 'The Message' or 'NLT' translations for easy-to-read-ness =) good luck!

No. You would have to understand what being a Christian means first. Just because someone says that they are Christian or anything else it doesn't mean that they truly are.

It seems like you already know the answer.
Typically bigots and racists judge (understand) large groups by the actions of the few. Are you either of these?
