Well when you die, it is considered the end, your finel reward. It also means that you have no way out, when you are dead you are dead. On a dead end street you are at the end. It good thing about a dead end street is you can turn around and go back unlike being dead no way back

It is refered to as a "dead end" street because there is no through road. Its not like a cul de sac which goes in a circle it is there a straight street abruptly ends...being that it is the end of a cliff, or just into undeveloped land.
The term "dead" is used because dead typically means the end, no more...that idea.
