If you keep driving you will crash and die at the end. If you hit a house and survive, the owners will kill you.

Well when you die, it is considered the end, your finel reward. It also means that you have no way out, when you are dead you are dead. On a dead end street you are at the end. It good thing about a dead end street is you can turn around and go back unlike being dead no way back

It is refered to as a "dead end" street because there is no through road. Its not like a cul de sac which goes in a circle it is there a straight street abruptly ends...being that it is the end of a cliff, or just into undeveloped land.
The term "dead" is used because dead typically means the end, no more...that idea.

I would say because it doesn't lead anywhere..just ends, dies , stops, etc.
