Just to answer a few other posters who have made comments saying "chances are she hasn't even read these books", I can tell you that this is the truth. She said it herself. She heard from a friend what the books were like, and is basing everything that she's doing off of that friend's opinion of the first book. Her friend didn't even read the whole book according to her. She only read the first 2 or 3 chapters and that is what is causing this whole thing. It's absolutely sad that with 4 children on her hands, she'd rather be doing something this stupid rather than spending that quality time with her children in activities that she approves of.

That is ridiculous people just have to much dame time on there hand and want to ban or judge anything that is a little different. I am 22 years old and I love Harry Potter! People just need to stop blaming book, TV, moves and everything else they don't like. Its up the parents to control their children's actions. Nobody else to to blame! You have to be able to separate fiction and non fiction. Its a story! People don't even know the true meaning of what Wicca is they just think its something devilish. That's B.S. Ignorance!
Peace and Love.

20 or so years ago there was a movement to ban the Smurfs....
The fundaMENTALists said that the Smurfs were communists because Papa Smurf wore red and was the "dictator". Also that it implied homosexuality and fornication as there was only one female...Smurfette.
This thing with Harry Potter is just the latest weak attempt by the fundaMENTALs to scare ppl into believing that the world is evil and that their children are in danger. What a great way to stir up the gullible momma bears! It's ridiculous at best.

formally, the full Harry Potter sequence has been considered a sequence for babies. babies love fairy memories, wizards, witches, fairies, dragons, leprechauns, and different wonderful creatures. JK Rowling used this wonderful international of wizardry to make babies examine. it is extremely nicely time-honored that the television and cyber web and video games make little ones examine much less and much less on a daily basis. yet at the back of the stunning facade, those books sell friendship, good somewhat of evil, they tutor babies to compliment what's suitable, in spite of if this is the complicated way, to be good, to be against rasism (mudblood is a form of rasism in the wizard's international)... how could absolutely everyone say those are evil books? The characters use their will means to make magic... they do no longer seem to be satanical, killing chickens or bats or in spite of! And yet another ingredient... this lady is attempting to prohibit the books, possibly because of the fact her little ones enjoyed them. Or did no longer. it is not significant. yet asserting that those books are in charge for the shootings, is basically too loopy! a woman like this could make her own babies loopy, and that they'll possibly get a gun a shoot somebody. So she could close up and make particular her little ones won't have psychological problems from such a loopy mom.

i think people need to get a life. seriously, they need to let children use the IMAGINATION that GOD gave them. apparently they dont know that every disney movie has magic in it. that CS LEWIS - the lion the WITCH and the wardrobe has a WITCH in it. cmon people. taking away from a childs childhood is wrong and you should NOT be a parent if you dont allow your children an actual childhood.
i also want an FYI on this, that i went to a private school all my life, you could tell the kids that were sheltered in a bubble big time. they never got out and did anything, but once they left home a majority of them turned to drugs and sleeping around. if you dont let them experience anything they will rebel and do it 10x worse. private school kids were much worse then those of public.

What a stupid ho. As if kids are just begging to read stuff now a days. There is finally a book that kids will want to read and use to become more literate and this stupid byatch tries and get it removed from schools. I'm going to hit her from long distance here hoping I spell it right "Patrificus Totalus!"
Also: This chick probably has never read the book and has no clue what it is about. Just like the people that parrot what their preacher says and say "It's in the bible." but have no clue where because it's NOT actually in the bible.

Which would logically be more damaging to a child's psyche? Forced exposure to a religion based on death, human sacrifice, and ritualized cannibalism (like Christianity) or a book about talking cats and flying trains???
You're only half right. These people aren't just absurd, they're down right sick.

That woman is an idiot. I can't believe it's the 21st century and people still want to ban books.
In the article I read, the library board in Gwinnett county also eliminated funding for Spanish books, for fear that illegals may benefit from them. Yah, that's a great idea. Let's limit our perspective to all english, all Chrisitan. Are they gonna ban tacos next just in case there are illegals who are hungry around the corner? Brilliant.

I'm a Christian and I don't get it either. It's not about Wicca, it's about the "magic" of childhood: personal power/responsibility. I think those who are set against it haven't read it without bias.
