You could find some way of embarrasing him, such as loudly remarking upon his action to another passerby (if you aren't afraid of getting embarrased yourself.) If he comes back with a lot of abuse then remark on that, but again not directly to the brat, who we can assume is not worth addressing. If any physical abuse follows laugh at him, increasing in volume all the while. If he is big enough that phsical abuse might actually be dangerous, do none of the above.
If you are a big jessie like me, do none of the above.
If you have lots of time, follow him home, contiually remarking on how you are watching out for him not to do any more spitting, then tell his parents. They probably won't care, in which case report them to the Police, who will find something to charge them with if they don't like the look of them. I'm tired, its bedtime.

By a 'little bugger' I asume you are talking of another human being? if so, yes you would get in trouble if you hit another person it is wrong. People have been spitting in the street, and else where, I should imagine since humans evolved the ability to spit. Youngsters to it to show off. It would be best to not let these matters annoy you.

A policeman clipped a youth around the ear a few months ago, he was taken to court but the judge gave him a pat on the back for it. Sadly I don't think you would get away with it, they'd send you to court for abuse or something!
The only way you can deal with it is by ignoring it, unless you want the bugger to be following you around for years on end!

Unfortunately the little bugger would probably try to be a smart *rse and say he's going to go to the police, to complain about an assault case. Personally I think this is wrong; you (presumably) are a good, law-abiding citizen; he on the other hand is an arsehole. I say we bring back corporal punishment: you didn't see people bricking windows and totally lacking respect before all of these "Don't smack your child" and such laws came about. Bloody ridiculous, I back you 100% on this one.

Yep you probably would of got into trouble. Kids these days know the law better than us. They would probably have you done for assault. Where as a few years ago you would take the clip and be to embarrassed to tell parents what happened in case they give you a clip to.
To be honest I wouldn't know how to deal with it - sad eh?

well........ the answer to your question is yes, you would get into trouble (More's the pity!)
What I find more worrying is that most people agree that you should clip him round the ear (me included!) but are saying you'd get into trouble for doing it. It's about time we took control of our streets back from the yobs and hoodies!

That is so gross when they do that and makes me retch really bad, I swear one of these days I am going to get sick down the back of one of these half breeds who spit in the street, maybe that's the answer.

Antisocials are getting worse, you should be able to in your own society. But sorry it don't work like that anymore. You can get done for assault, or worse still they can fetch a knife out. And if they are under 16 they'll get away with it, and you won't.

sadly yes. You could have pointed out how rude his actions were but you probably would have got a load of verbal abuse. Do gooders who say children shouldn't be punished or disciplined need to get a grips with reality.
