I am guessing they didn't think of that........... I am also guessing that motion sensor to flush the toilet is better than not having anything at all I know I hate opening the door and finding the last person didn't flush. maybe a small sink to wash your hands makes more sense? How about a foot pedal next to the toilet for unlocking and opening the door?

it's a good idea, but not very practicle- what if you reach for paper and the door flies open?! The idea is so that the toilet itself stays sanitized and doesnt built bacteria or leak as often, and a lot of germ-phobes flush with their foot and it avoids that. the door handles are much more easily sanitized and then the idea is to wash your hands as you leave, so (assuming we all do) when you touch the door to leave there's no more grossness.

Well, for one, I think it auto-flushes so they don't get "used" toilets from lazy people who don't flush. Reduces number of janitors they need.
Secondly, on a funny note about the "auto-unlock" door - did you ever notice how many times the toilet tends to flush before you're done? Would you want the door opening on you before you've pulled your pants up? :)

just dont close the door when you go in. they can see your feet anyway so if you are taking a dump just have the door open so what.
or just dont use your hand to open the door just slide under the opening at the bottom were they can see your feet.
or better yet just climb over the top of the stall (make sure you pants are up first if you do the last 2 suggestions cuz you might look strange.

The reason for auto flushes has nothing whatsoever to do with hygiene or safety.
It is to do with finances!
All business establishments pay for their water on a meter so they employ a firm of utility consultants who determine how to set the minimum amout of flusheswith the minimum amount of water to avoid smells.
this is a fact as i work in the industry of hygiene and safety

I think the reason for this is so that the establishment has a higher rate of flushed toilets.

That's actually a pretty good idea. And we need motion sensor soap, too.

I don't know, but it seems that they don't use enough water, anyway, somethimes you have to make it flush twice. That's not very sanitary.
