1st of all, he's not that great of a husband if he is only attracted to your looks. He needs to get put in his place! Most likely he is a bit overweight too.
As for you, Atkins is very effective but I think that South Beach is better only b/c you are going w/o carbs for a shorter period of time. You will only be able to lose the weight if YOUR mind is set, not your husbands.
Have you looked into why you have gained the weight? Are you depressed, abused, what kind of meds are you on, are you stressed? Look into these also, they might play a vital role in you weight issue.
Keep you spirits up and SELF CONTROL is also a very big role in starting to lead a healtly life.
Tell you husband to support you instead of being picky on what you look like. What will he do when you are old and gray and wrinkly? It's the inside that counts the most, the outside is just a bonus. And everyone can go through life w/o a bonus.
Good luck Girl, you can do it!

Weight gain (or loss) is an extremely easy formula: If you are gaining weight you are consuming more calories than you are burning.

Exercise is great, but it is often the case that you are burning less calories from exercise than you are consuming. If so, you will gain unwanted weight.

Your are probably: snacking (adds extra calories), eating sugar products (ice cream, even if diet; soda, even if diet; alcohol - maybe; cookies; ... ).

Here is a plan: exercise robustly for 15 mins/ day (as fast as you can walk, as much weight as you can pull if using machines). Speed (that is, intensity) is far more important than duration.

Here is what to eat: six small meals instead of three. Half your portions of carbs: rice or potatoes. Double your portion of greens and proteins (chicken, beef, fish).

Drink water before each meal.

No candy, cookies, cake, etc...

Track your progress every day. Your weight will fluctuate day to day. Don't worry about it too much. Nothing may happen for 2-3 weeks, then you will start to lose.

Best of luck.

Look if your husbad really loves you he wouldn't care if you are 5, 50 or 500 lbs over weight. If he's tripping then you dont need anyway. In some months or years when you are the size you wanna be he's gonna come crawilng back onhis kness. And hopefully you would have found someone better by then. You tell him if he truely loves you he wont leave over some as stupid as weight, if he does he loved you any way ans plus you've had four kids if hes complainig hes a jackass (sorry).

Dont think that i am 100% Correct. Its just that Ive seen too many situations like these. I wish you all the luck in succeccfeding with your weight issue though kay, Love ya sweetie.

DON'T PANIC!!! Got you covered.

The following things are enemies to weight loss and should be avoided as much as possible:

-- Fast food, junk food, deep-fried food
-- Soft drinks, energy drinks, juices that are not 100% juice
-- Trans fat (partially or fully hydrogenated oils)
-- High fructose corn syrup (found in LOTS of things)
-- Refined white flour/sugar
-- Saturated fat

The following foods are weight-loss friendly:

-- Nuts, any kind
-- Beans/Legumes
-- Green vegetables (spinach and broccoli top the list)
-- Lowfat dairy products
-- Eggs
-- Olive oil
-- Lean meats (especially fish and poultry)
-- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
-- Fresh fruits (anything that ends in "berry" is a winner)
-- Water
-- 100% green tea or black pekoe tea

Here are a few more tips:

1. Eat breakfast every day within 90 minutes of waking up -- people who don't are 450% more likely to be overweight

2. Eat six small meals a day instead of three square meals per day -- eating smaller but more often raises your metabolism, but eating too much at one sitting causes your body to store extra calories as fat

3. Three tablespoons of olive oil per day will help curb your appetite and will have a bunch of other health benefits.

4. Try to get at least 25 grams of fiber in your diet every day. Fiber fills you up and helps your body metabolize all that "bad" cholesterol.

5. For half a day, once a week, chuck all the rules and eat/drink whatever you want. Just don't gorge yourself.

6. Do SOME type of exercise every day, even if it's just a 15-minute walk around the block. You can walk as much as you want and as often as you want, but don't do cardio or aerobics for more than 30-40 minutes at a time -- you'll stop burning fat and start burning muscle.

Good luck!

This same thing happened to me for the first several years of my marriage. I lost interest in sex, because I felt self-conscious and fat and ashamed. Eventually, my husband cheated on me. We are still together, happier than ever, and I am 60 pounds lighter. I used Adipex to lose my weight, diet pills are not for everyone, but they worked for me. They help you control your appetite and boost your metabolism while you learn what foods to eat and how much exercise you need to maintain a healthy weight. See your doctor about those. Whatever road you decide to take...do it now, don't wait! Good Luck! You can do it!

Well over time you have probably started to consume more calories and became less active which has slowed your metabolism, resulting in gaining weight. So, you will want to consume less calories and start doing cardio at least 3 times a week for 45 minutes a session.

You first need to not listen to the negative stress your husband's putting on you... that's just wrong.... you don't say your age or work or what.. but you're best taking it slowly b/c fad diets, pills, etc. may work but you'll put it on as fast as you take it off. You need to live a healthy life style - eat breakfast, lunch, dinner. small 'healthy snacks' inbetween. don't totally deprive yourself of foods you like. ie: if you eat bread at every meal - exclude it in one, then another until you won't miss it - or just eat bread on w/e's. and... lastly, Exercise! you need to do cardio 3x/40mins and also weights - alternate days.for toning and also burns calories as well). Eat low- carb .. just good carbs, fruit, legumes, green veggies.. go for turkey burgers instead of beef, mix some fish in there too, try to stay away from processed foods if its from the earth it's good for you! - lastly, be positive... your husband needs to support you in what you're doing...maybe even join you!!! Best of luck to you!

If you are excersing and monitoring your diet but you're still gaining weight you need to see your doctor. There are a lot of things that could be causing this so your doctor needs to run some tests.
