No.
Christ, the Son of man, is Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, Luke 6:5).
If you are really trying to find the truth, this booklet would help:
What Is God's Sabbath?
It's free from 8v@8v.com
It contains just about every argument on the subject.
The command is to remember.
He knew we'd forget.

Good question!
smh73448, I'm really glad that you really are seeking for truth and do God's will. After all, a Christian is a follower of Christ.
Many people say that the Sabbath is part of the Old Covenant. I believe they're honest people, but sometimes people mix the ceremonial sabbaths (yearly sabbaths, for example) with the weakly Sabbath, which is one of the Ten Commandment of God.
The first time we find about the Sabbath day in the Bible, is in Genesis 2:1-3; at the beginning!
There are some people who say that the Ten Commandments do not apply anymore. I believe they're mixing the ceremonial law --the law of Moses-- with the Moral Law --Ten Commandment Law. One was nailed to the Cross. It was the ceremonial law which pointed up Jesus. The Moral Law was not nailed. That Law is eternal. In a previous question, I talked about these two Laws: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhIcr75TYD0cVdWZOXo4adfsy6IX?qid=20061004130239AApjp8z
And there are other persons who agree with only 9 of the Ten Commandments, and skip the Fourth Commandment which says "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy".
Maybe you have read what the Bible says in James 2:10-11, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law".
The Ten Commandments are a single Law. We can't brake one Commandment and keep the other nine, neither take away one Commandment.
In a previous question of yours, I gave you a lot of websites which will be very helpful. But now, about the Ten Commandments and thus the Sabbath, I'll give you these three:

(you may start with watching a video which is at the right-top-angle of the website. The video is divided into two parts and it's called "Sabbath, Sunday, & the New Covenant")

(these are free online books, just click on the theme you'd like to read)
If you have any comments or doubts, or would like Bible evidences, or more websites; please, feel free to e-mail me. I'll be glad to help.
May God bless all of you!

The Sabbath for Jewish people is Saturday. For Christians it's still traditionally Sunday. However, in Christianity, in essence, the Sabbath should be everyday - as it is a condition of the heart. Jesus emphasized that we should practice love, peace, kindness, compassion, and good will toward all men everyday of the week - not just on the traditional Sabbath. What was "nailed to the cross" so to speak is the need to go through "ritual" to come into the presence of God - Jesus' death on the cross opened the door for all mankind to receive the gift of salvation and the promises of Abraham - no longer the Jewish people as his only "chosen" but all men . . .

The Levitical Laws passed away when Jesus Christ introduced the Christian Church.
Under the Jewish Levitical Laws, you would be stoned to death for doing work on the Sabbath Day.
Now the Sabbath Day is a day of instruction.

Nope. Not at all.
It was the Roman Catholic Church that changed not only the Sabbath Day to Sunday but even the Third Commandment... among many others.
Peace be with you!

The Sabbath has always been Saturday.
The Roman Emperor Constantine insisted that Christians worship on a day other than the Jewish Sabbath because he wanted to separate Christianity from its Jewish origins. Constantine considered Jews to be enemies of the Roman Empire, but he was willing to tolerate the Christian religion.
There is nothing in Scripture that remotely supports changing the Sabbath day.

Check out www.holysunday.com and you will find 60 amazing quotes from church leaders. They all admit that the Sabbath is the true day for worship and that Sunday sacredness is just a tradition of man without any Biblical basis.

The Sabbath is VERY SPECIAL. It is a command given to THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL by GOD. Exodus 31:16,17 "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant."
It is a sign between ME and the children of Israel forever: for in six days…….. .
Deuteronomy 5:15 reiterates…therefore the Lord thy God commanded thee to keep the Sabbath day. What a glorious commemoration of the deliverance of the Jews out of Egypt!
From the above it is quite obvious that THE SABBATH was given by GOD to Israel.
IN the NEW TESTAMENT it is impossible to find any indication at all that the church observed the Sabbath. Of course, the Sabbath was utilized by the propagators of the faith to go in to, or join the Jewish community and tell them of THE CHRIST.
Colossians 2:16,17 certainly indicates that the opposite is true!
"Let no man, therefore, judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath day.
Which are a shadow of things to come:but the body is of Christ."
ERGO! When one is a True Christian they are NOT bound by the Sabbath Laws, OR OF ANY DIETARY LAWS - be they Vegetarianism or "thou shalt not eat meat on Friday".

well, you'll have to forgive me as I haven't studied in quite a while, but if I remember correctly when I was studying under a messianic leader he said that the Jewish custom back then was to nail the accusation of the criminal to the execution stake (cross) so that what got nailed to the execution stake was not the "law" but the accusation of guilt...I don't know if that helped, but that's what I remember from it anyways. Best Wishes!
