I have some Shortcuts to some folders like My Music etc on my desktop and I want to get them off my dest top but I DO NOT want delete the folder or the files in the folder.

My desk top is just getting cluttered with Short cuts.

Right now when I right click on the folder on my desk top and tell it to delete is wants to delete the folders and files with in the folders.

All you have to do is,

Right click the icon
Left click Delete

The icon goes into the Recycle Bin but the files stay.

Have fun but be safe!

If what you have on your desktop is 'just a shortcut' you will see a small spot with an arrow in the lower left corner. You can delete these without deleting any files. If the spot with the arrow is not there, you may have a folder containing information that you don't want to delete.

You should be able to right click and hold the shortcut until you can drag it to the recycle bin.
