Modestly priced from California
Quady Essencia Orange Muscat
Very floral on the nose with spicy, mineral, perfumed characters mixed with orange and citrus oil notes. Fresh, crisp, round style with lots of zesty orange, honey, mineral, spicy, ginger flavours. Not fat or cloying, a fresh style for dessert that's fun.

From Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada
Château des Charmes Vidal Icewine
Intense dried apricot, mandarin marmalade, nalgene, mineral, floral, spicy aromas, very clean vidal. Rich, round, elegant style with good acidity and sugar balance. Lots of marmalade, red apple, spicy, apricot, nectarine skin flavours with a long fruity finish. Very fine vidal icewine.

From my Province
Nk'Mip Cellars Qwam Qwmt Riesling Icewine
Open mineral, pear, vinyl, citrus rind, green apple, peach aromas with a floral note. Ripe, rich, round, slightly fatter style with orange, pear, mineral, baked apple, marmalade flavours. Good acidity and length with some pear, creamsicle flavours on the finish. Well balanced with verve and flavour intensity.

There are two seductively sweet rare Riesling white wines from the Rhine river district: the *Beerenauslese* which means each grape is hand picked while over ripe and thus termed "noble rottenness." This wine tastes like honey and goes especially well with ice cream & chocolate syrup.

The other wine is the "Eiswein" which means the grapes were harvested after the first frost ... some times as late as January! This is even sweeter than the *Beerenauslese* but also has the typical Riesling balanced (pleasant) acid taste. Eiswein goes well with all those thick gooey cakes!

Hope this helps and you can find these wines in your vicinity ... unfortunately they'll probably start at 50 $ (50 Euro over here).

Sutter Home White Zinfandel, inexpensive and very drinkable. Goes with most anything including simply conversation. You can usually find local wines that are nice as well but they tend to cost a bit more. I live in Michigan so I like Old Mission Pinnisula Semi Dry Reisling Or Chateau Grand Traverse Semi Dry Reisling. The dry's are to sweet for my tastes. As far as what a wine tastes like, that is for you to decide.

First off, I don't like them with dessert. I'd rather have them after coffee, more like a liquer.

My favourite would be a niagra (canada) riesling icewine. Reisling I generally find more aciding and brighter then vidal icewine. The acidity gives it some crispness to offset the sweetness, just the way it would in a good apple or in lemonade, where the sweetness and tartness play off one another. I've enjoyed Henry of Pelham and Inniskillin's reisling icewines in the past, but most of them should be excellent.

Second choice would be a vintage port.

Cantine Aurora Tortona 2001 Piemonte Frizzante ($13.99)
Clear, bright straw color with a slight fizz. Delicious peach aroma and flavor with hints of lemon peel on the palate, juicy and sweet, with just an edge of subtle earthiness (possibly a gift from the cork) to add complexity. There's sufficient acidity for balance, but barely so; even by the sweet standard of Moscato, this one's on the sugary side. Fresh and quenching, it's "a soft drink for adults."

Quady Port (Madera California) is a very nice Port. They have some that are only available locally but some is marketed nationally.

My very favorite Port is St. Amant Port (Lodi California). It's awesome.
