I find it interesting that people do such extreme things to their bodies for attention. What kind of people do they want to attract and what "Mission" are they on? Will they be comfortable with their pierces and tattoo's when they are seniors?

I happen to have my belly button pierced & my ears pierced as well as 2 large tatts & one small one.
I'm not trying to attract anyone's attention, I just happen to like these things so I got them.

What makes u think it's for attention. I have a tongue piercing, and about 7 tats. I have willing allowed my body to be pierced and tatted because it was my personal preference. Because I have tats and a piercing, it does not mean that I am on any "Mission" unless it's one for artistic expression and individuality. And to answer ur other question, when I am an old gray haired grandmother, I will have ABSOLUTELY no problems showing my tats (or at least the ones that are in an appropriate place) to others, including my grandchildren. What I did at 21 or now at 27 I refuse to be ashamed of years later. That is the benefit of living your life with no regrets, for yourself and regardless of anothers opinion of u.

When individuals question me approximately my tattoo's and piercings I simply say my piercings may also be taken out, and healed, and as for tattoos, do not seem at them. But while, relying at the corporation I'm in I make a decision if tattoo's would not be suitable to be discovered. And then again while any person says what approximately while your eighty years ancient with all of the tattoos? I simply with no trouble say everybody else in my iteration goes to have them too, now not like a few are simply going to vanish. lol

Body Art whether it be tattoos or peircings is a sign of individuality and an expression of who they are. When you go on vacation you take pictures or buy things to remember your trip. When people get tattoos it simbolizes who they at that time in their lives. So when they get older they will have a permanent reminder of who they were and where they came from.
By the wording in your question I can tell that you are not intrigued by their choses because you wrote " what kind of people do they want to attract" well I imagion that they want to find the same kind of person you do, loving caring someone who is interested in the same things as they are. I think you have the wrong idea about people who are open to expression and I feel you think they are freakish...which they are not if anythign they are bolder than you or I for being able to express themselves so fully where you and I hide behind conservative trends and popularity.

I asked something similar to this question once. The response I received was that some people have a strong need to fit in -- and it is the present unfortunate fad and people are following like a heard of cows going mooooooooooo. Will they be comfortable as seniors? Probably -- seniors are still young needing to fit in adults. The questioning age and being comfortable should be asked at 30 and 40. Once an individual stretches their earlobe to half the size of a penny, it -- will -- NOT -- grow back. There will be a permanent stretched hole for ever AND EVER. A woman I know said she did a lot of wild and stupid things passing through life till her 30s. She told me one of the biggest mistakes she regrets the most was getting all them tattoos, but that was her. Another individual may not feel the same way.
Well, that's my 2 cents worth of opinion.

This isn't the olden days. People don't get tattooed nowadays to fit in or attract a certain group of people. They get tattooed for personal reasons, most of the time its to remind them of a milestone in life, or to remember a loved one, or sometimes its just a right of passage. As for piercings, its the same thing. People do it because THEY like it, and everyone else doesn't matter.
I personally have 3 tattoos, in areas that normal clothing covers up. I used to have my tongue pierced, belly button, and nipples, but I grew out of that. It was a phase. Tattooing on the other hand is addictive.

I have 2 tatoos and my tongue is pierced. My tats are tasteful and I'm very comfortable with them. As for the tongue piercing...I was having a moment! LOL It's something I wanted for a long time but the thought of the pain held it off. I had my "seven year itch" a couple years back and I was trying to cover up the pain of losing my husband with the pain of my second tatoo and getting my tongue pierced. The piercing can be taken out at any time...I'm thinking when I become a grandma! I'm back with my husband now and he loves it! LOL

WHy do you wear the clothes you wear? Why do you have your hair the way you do? Do you do it to impress someone? Yeah sure plenty of people get a tattoo and later regret it, but people also dye their hair and regret it, I have a tat that I will NEVER regret, its my grandmothers favorite flower, so yes wether I am 30 or 90 I will be very comfortable with it, if someone is comfortable with body modification, how does it affect you? besides piercings are just a novelty they can easily be removed, and they grow back very fast..

Not everyone is trying to attract attention. Some people, like myself, use this as a way to express themselves. I have 5 earrings in each ear, belly ring, 2 tattoos, and i used to have a tongue ring. and you can bet that i'll get more tattoos.

well you arrived a little bit late buddy, um i think tattoos and piercing is great. as long as the don't look like a tackle box has been thrown at their face, some go a little to far with the piecing but . the normal ones look coool . and tatts i love em. a work of art.

Well I had my ears pierced when I was like 2 months old,... I really didn't get a choice in the matter.... Some piercing and tattoos are actually for religion or custom.. Look at the tribes of Africa and South America. Just like your custom is going to Taco Bell for a mexican pizza,.. theirs is getting their nipples pierced.
